People really need to stop assuming nobody understands French

A Caucasian family was eating burgers on vacation at the beach when a couple nearby started talking about them in French.

They were speaking English among themselves, so the couple probably assumed French would be safe.

The woman made a comment about the dad eating two burgers and said he looked like he needed a salad.

One of the siblings answered in French.

The reaction was apparently immediate. Bright red face, awkward silence, then they left.

Imagine trying to embarrass someone in another language and accidentally embarrassing yourself instead.

AITAH for asking my sister to pay me back for concert tickets I bought for her?

Genuine question because this feels ridiculous.

If someone agrees to pay you back for concert tickets and then doesnt pay is asking again really a big deal?

The tickets were $120 each. One sister bought both because the other said she would send her half when she got paid.

She went to the concert and said she would transfer the money the next day.

Nothing.

A week later she says she forgot.

Another two weeks pass and now she says money is tight and asks to pay next month.

That part is understandable.

What isn't clear is why the mom thinks the $120 should just disappear because they're sisters.

Helping family is one thing. Paying for something someone agreed to reimburse is another.

Would most people just forget about the $120 or still expect the sister to pay?

AITAH?
