Wise closed my account with ~$24k funds stuck in verification. Anyone experienced this?

My Wise account was closed on **10 September** with around **$24,000 remaining**.

Wise initially attempted to return the money to my nsave USD account via ACH, but nsave discontinued ACH receiving. Wise internally cancelled the transfer, and I immediately provided **new bank details IBAN/swift**. However, my funds were put through verification again.

Every day I’m getting essentially the same response: **“Your money is safe,” “mandatory/due-diligence checks are ongoing,” and “we cannot provide a timeline.”** It’s now been almost **a month**, and my money still hasn’t been released.

Their final complaint response says they only **hope to provide an update by 21 October** not even that the funds will be released by then.
I’ve already escalated this to the **Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)**. FOS emailed me saying they expect to **pick up my case within 4 weeks and provide an outcome within 8 weeks**.

Has anyone personally been through something similar and eventually received their money? **Is there anything else I can do while waiting? Would a UK solicitor/lawyer be able to help push this forward, or do I simply have to wait for Wise/FOS?**

Concerned about future of my 2.4 year old

My little boy is 2 years 4 months old, and my wife and I are feeling overwhelmed and worried about his future. We haven’t received his official diagnosis yet, but our developmental pediatrician strongly suspects autism, and we have an appointment with a psychiatrist next week for a formal assessment.

Looking back, we first became concerned around 18 months because he wasn’t imitating us, wasn’t responding to his name, and wasn’t developing speech like other children his age.

His current challenges

No functional speech (mostly babbling, vocal stimming, and sounds)
Doesn’t say “mama” or “dada” meaningfully
No receptive language (understands only a few familiar things)
Rarely follows commands
No response to his name
Uses hand leading to communicate what he wants
Hand and finger stimming, especially near his face and eyes
Spins round objects

Vocal stimming and excited squealing
Loves water play
Used to tiptoe walk often (this has become much less frequent over the last couple of months)
Smells new objects
Likes playing with toys upside down or viewing them from unusual angles
Elopes when he wants
High energy and has difficulty sitting for long periods
Fine motor skills are behind for his age
Gets frustrated because he cannot communicate his needs

His strengths

Despite all of this, he has many wonderful qualities.
Eye contact has improved significantly.
He enjoys being around people.
He loves football, cars, bubbles, and water play.
He can sit and focus for around 15–20 minutes now, which is much better than before.
He knows the full ABC and repeat them
He knows number from 1 to 10.
Can identify and say fish sheep zebra star and few other words
He recognizes many colors. Blue red yellow
He can identify several animals and objects using flashcards.
He has started drawing simple lines and enjoys purposeful play.
Recently he even tried putting on his Crocs by himself and asked us for help when he couldn’t do it.
His hearing has been tested and is normal.
He sleeps well through the night.

Our therapy journey

As soon as we became concerned, we didn’t want to wait for a diagnosis before helping him.
For the past month we have been doing:
ABA
Speech Therapy
Occupational Therapy
He attends therapy 4 days a week, and my wife and I spend hours every day practicing activities at home.
We’ve already noticed improvements.
His sitting tolerance has improved.
His sensory regulation is getting better.
His eye contact is much stronger.
His focus has improved.
His fine motor skills are improving slowly.
He is more engaged during play than he was a few months ago.
The progress is definitely there, but it feels very slow. Some days it feels like we take one step forward and two steps back. We both work all day to support him, and by the end of the day we’re completely exhausted—but we’ll do anything for our little boy.

Our biggest fears

We know nobody can predict the future, but we constantly worry.
Will he ever speak?
Will he be able to have conversations?
Will he become independent?
Will he be able to attend a mainstream school?
Will he be able to make friends?
Will he be able to live a happy and independent adult life?

He’s our first child, and honestly this journey has made us scared about having another child because we don’t know what the future holds.

I’ve also been reading about things like stool testing, gut health, heavy metal testing, supplements, and biomedical approaches. There is so much information online that it’s difficult to know what is evidence-based and what isn’t. If you’ve explored these, I’d love to hear your experience.

I’m looking for hope

If your child had similar signs around 2–3 years old, I would really appreciate hearing your story.
How is your child doing now?
When did speech start?
What therapies made the biggest difference?
What home activities helped the most?
What do you wish you had known earlier?

Success stories, realistic advice, and even honest experiences would mean the world to us right now.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. It would really help us feel less alone on this journey.
