Skeletal Class II but Class I bite — surgeons say jaw surgery may not be worth it

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with skeletal Class II, sleep apnea, deep bite, and one-sided chewing. Over the past year I saw four jaw surgeons, but all said ljs surgery isn't worth it because my bite is Class I and decompensation might allow only very minimal movement. They said djs would be overkill for my case.

Two CT scans confirmed skeletal Class II, and my profile still looks recessed. Genioplasty was ruled out since it wouldn’t fix the functional issues or move the lower lip forward enough.

Question: Has anyone had skeletal Class II with a Class I bite where surgeons were hesitant? What treatment did you choose, and how did you decide? What should I do?
