New Grad to Rehab Inpatient Hospital without Residency
Ik this has probably been asked a lot but any advice for going into hospital pharmacy as a new grad without residency?
I just got an offer for a hospital pharmacist job at an inpatient rehab hospital. Still waiting for the actual compensation package so hopefully this is set in stone. Their pharmacy is very new (started last yr).
I'm covering for 2 locations: one has 60 (expanding to 100) and the other has 160 ish beds. They **dont do acute care stuff** (thank God). It's day and evening shift with rotating wkends. After training, i might have to be alone during the evening shift. They do **sterile compounding** (have no experience or certification) on one site but not the other. They **dont compound their own TPN**. I may also **have to do rounds** with the phsyicians/nurses and be able to **attend antimicrobial stewarship and P&T committee.**
I'm excited for this role since I feel like I'm going to experience all roles pharmacists can do in hospital. But I'm also nervous bc it's a fairly small team and I've never actually made IV sterile compounds (been in the room at least) and there's gonna be lots of responsibility.
**Also, how did you handle your mistakes? And what mistakes did u make when you were just starting out?**
