Boldy James & Real Bad Man: Adu Trilogy

Boldy James & Real Bad Man: Adu Trilogy

Finally received my copy of Adu 3. Boldy just works so damn well with Real Bad Man. All 6 albums have been incredible. But these Adu EPs make for a perfect trilogy.

For the actual record, Adu 3 sounds fucking amazing. It's insane how much bass RBM got into this press. I think 1 is still my favorite but 3 easily tops 2. All in all, a fantastic run of music that will be in rotation for the foreseeable future!

40mb Kodak HR500 vs 87mb Noritsu HS1800

I see so many people focus on pixel resolution when it comes to scanning and printing. But in my experience, it's another example of reality playing out differently than numbers and specs.

Fully open these images on your monitor and click between the two. Even though the Kodak scan is almost half the size, it is way sharper and captures more detail.

- The Noritsu kicks out a decently "edited" file from the get go. But it is still a machine designed to be fast and efficient. It can scan a roll of 36 exp in like 60 seconds. Minimal color correction but limited to smaller prints, ideally 4x6-8x10 but up to 12x18 with these larger 87mb scans.

- The Kodak however, captures way more detail with less pixels BUT it can take me an hour to scan a roll of 36 exp PLUS time for color correction. Each file needs post processing; cropping & color correction. This thing can kick out a 60mb scan that rivals 100mb drum scans (which I do as well).

The number of pixels in an image can only do so much. If the scanner you are using has an inferior lens or sensor, it won't matter how large its DPI is. "Garbage in = garbage out". Not saying the Noritsu is garbage. It's an amazing machine, but it has it's limitations.
