Brand new Hisense AC never worked and customer service has been terrible

I bought a Hisense 8,000 BTU Smart Inverter Window Air Conditioner in October 2025, but didn’t install it until May 2026 since I bought it ahead of summer.

The problem is that the unit never worked from day one. The fan turns on and the AC powers up normally, but it doesn’t cool at all — it just blows room-temperature air.

I contacted Hisense customer support on May 18 and immediately sent them everything they requested, including proof of purchase and the serial number. Since then, I’ve called twice more for updates. Every single time I’m told someone will contact me within 24–48 hours, and every single time nobody follows up and nothing gets resolved.

Meanwhile it was brutally hot in NYC last week with temperatures hitting around 95°F, and next week is supposed to be hot again. Not having AC because a brand new unit arrived defective has been incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. My apartment has been unbearably hot at night and I honestly haven’t been able to sleep properly because of it.

I understand I installed it months after purchase, but the unit literally never worked once. This isn’t wear and tear — it was defective out of the box.

At this point I honestly regret buying a Hisense product. Based on this experience alone, I’ll never buy another Hisense appliance again, and I’ll definitely be warning friends and family to avoid Hisense products too.

I’m curious if other people here have had similar experiences with Hisense customer service or warranty claims. Is this normal for them? Did anyone actually manage to get a replacement or repair without weeks of back-and-forth?
