My first few days with the Hisense U7 55”

I picked up the 55” Hisense U7 during Prime Day and have been using it for a few days now. I wasn’t really planning on buying a Hisense at first, mostly because I didn’t know much about the brand.

What changed my mind was seeing it in store. The picture looked really clean even under bright showroom lighting, which stood out to me because my living room gets a decent amount of light during the day. The price during Prime Day also made it a lot easier to take the chance.

So far, I’m pretty happy with it. Colors look bright without being too much, and movies, YouTube, and sports all look better than they did on my old TV. Older shows have looked decent too, which surprised me a little. I expected some of them to look rough on a newer 4K TV, but the processing seems to help.

The TV itself is a bit chunky, so setting it up was definitely easier with a couple of people helping. Once we got it on the stand and in place, everything was fine.

Still early, but for what I paid during Prime Day, it feels like a solid upgrade.

Blurry picture

I’ve just bought a 55” 6 series and the picture is blurry, everywhere I read it says to turn on enhanced format and it will enable the hdr though this is still appearing to be off? Just wondering any setting I can change to improve the picture quality in any way open to any ideas no matter how radical 🤷‍♂️

Best Buy

Need help and yes it’s another “which one would you choose” post. Getting ready to buy a new TV.
Fairly bright room. Using Apple TV as streaming device. Value a bright picture over color accuracy. (Not a big videophile) but want a the best in my price range. 2000 or a touch higher is price range. Don’t want OLED, brighter room and want an 85 inch. A little PS5 gaming and mostly Netflix, YouTube tv, sports, Apple TV +, and Amazon watching. Some firestick using Stremio.

All of these are 85 inch
TCL QM9K. $1999.99
TLC QM7L. $1999.99
TCL QM8K $1799.99
Hisense UR8 $2199.99
Hisense U8QG $1699.99

These or something different in the price range? Not paying Sony prices even though I know they are “the king” of TV’s.

Blue U8H - My Last Hisense Product

Our 55" Hisense U8H TV started off fantastic! We loved the picture, even in our bright space, and the TV got a few hours of use per week in our living room. Fast forward to today, our warranty is expired (in Canada we only get one year) and the damn TV's picture has turned blue. From what I've read, this is a common issue, and it's pathetic really. My garage TV is 20 years old and lives out there in -20 winters. My Sony 65" is nearly 10 years old, still perfect. Oh well, you get what you pay for I guess!

First time buying a big screen TV

Just got my first big TV set up. It’s an 85" Hisense U6 Pro, and I’ve been using it for about 3 or 4 days now.

So far, I’m really happy with it. I upgraded from a much smaller older TV, so the size difference alone is kind of wild. Movies and sports feel way more fun on an 85" screen, and watching World Cup matches on it has probably been my favorite part so far. Big bright screen for soccer just hits different lol.

The picture looked good right away to me. I haven’t messed with settings much yet, but colors look nice, the screen gets plenty bright, and it still looks clear during the day even though my room gets a decent amount of light.

I’ve also tried some PS5 on it, and it feels smooth enough for me. I’m not a hardcore competitive player or anything, but for casual gaming it’s been great.

Fire TV has been easy to use too. Netflix, YouTube, Prime, and Disney were all there, and switching between apps has been smooth so far.

Still early, but for what I paid, this feels like a really solid big screen upgrade.

My budget home theater setup

Finally got the setup mostly finished this weekend.

TV: 85" Hisense U7

This was the main piece of the setup. Viewing distance is around 10 to 11 feet, and the wall niche looked like it needed a bigger screen, so 85" felt like the right size without completely taking over the room. I paid around $1,500, which felt reasonable for a Mini LED this size. The room gets daylight from the sliding door too, so I wanted something bright enough for sports, movies, and PS5 without always closing the blinds. So far, the size feels great from the couch, sports look good during the day, and PS5 has felt smooth from the main seating position.

Audio: Samsung HW Q + sub

I know, not real HT lol. But for now it keeps the setup clean and fits nicely under the TV. The sub is off to the side and gives enough low end for movies and games without shaking the whole house. Long term, I can see myself moving to an AVR with a proper 3.1 or 5.1 setup, but I’m not there yet.

Sources: PS5 + Nintendo Switch

The Switch is mostly for the kids and family games. The PS5 is what I use at night for racing games, single player stuff, and some streaming. Nothing too complicated here, but having everything connected and easy to access has made the space get used a lot more.

Lighting / room: still figuring this part out

This is the part that feels unfinished. The niche still looks a little empty, and the console area is pretty plain. I’m thinking about adding dimmable bias lighting inside the cutout, probably something neutral instead of full RGB. I don’t want it to look like a gaming dorm room, but I do think some soft lighting could help the wall feel less flat.

Next upgrades:

Cable management is first. After that, maybe bias lighting, maybe a better media console layout, and eventually real speakers.

For anyone who has done a TV niche setup, would you add bias lighting inside the cutout, or keep it clean and save the money for speakers / AVR first?

Does my Hisense 43E7Q really support 120hz?

So i got this tv for movies , didnt have gaming in mind but here we are, so the TV is advertised strictly as 4k 60hz, however my Xbox let me switch to 120fps but it lowered the resolution to 1080p

Is this tv capable of running 120hz on full hd resolution or is this just an Xbox magic thing and its still running actually 60hz underneath? Even the game bar on the hisense says 120hz

Which 100”tv do you guys recommend?

I want to buy from Costco because of 90day warranty but they only have 2 models. One is labeled qled and other is mini-led.

Haven’t researched tv in along time and want to upgrade from a 10 years old 75in tv.

Room is being during day but no windows behind the tv. Like to use it for everything.

Are these new models or a refresh of new models is going to get released soon?

UR8 or QM7L

I’m choosing between a 85 UR8 ($2200) and a 85 QM7L ($2000). I saw both TV’s yesterday and I really like the glossy display the UR8 has. But in the other hand the QM7L looks really good too with a little more vibrancy. I don’t know which tv to pick. Anything helps. I’m coming from a 65’ U8G

Hisense or Samsung?

Im looking for a high quality tv nothing too expensive my budget is around $300usd. I just recently bought the Samsung u7900F crystal UHD and it is dog shit terrible. I went from an old model Hisense i bought in 2021 and that Hisense looks way better than the Samsung quality wise so im debating just getting a newer model hisense Qled the Qd7 and wondering if that new model Hisense has good quality? Would Qled be a step up from the samsung 7900? The hisense is currently $300 where im at is this a good price point? Is this a good tv to buy for crisp, clean clear tv? What are other options?

Difference between Led, Qled, Oled and Crystal Uhd?

New update has made pc mode unusable

After updating when using my u7q, game mode is no longer allowed on my pc connection and without it all motion is incredibly blurry and nauseating. On top of that it reset all my windows Hz and HDR settings, real shame I just got so many accessories to enjoy gaming with a friend this weekend and now I can't even look at the screen

75U8QG and AX5140Q Audio Issues

For the life of me, I cannot get Hi-Concerto to work. Audio drops in and out. When playing any Dolby Atmos content, audio is super low and sounds muffled. I’m this mode it also disables surround on reboot.

Tried resets, checked and rechecked all connections. Currently running in regular eARC speaker mode and drop out and surround reset problems go away. But the quality of the audio isn’t nearly as good and the voice tracks are too low causing us to bump up the volume, but then the action scenes are super loud.

Anyone had this issue and fixed it?
