[My First Luxury Watch]

After lurking this subreddit for some time (several months), I felt inspired to chase my first big watch purchase. Previously the extent of my watch “collection” has been low-budget quartz daily wears (Nixon Time Teller, Bulova Diver [98B345], and a vintage store find of a Seiko DayDate [7N438111]. I was recently on vacation in Italy and the idea popped into my head to make a watch my big purchase of the trip. After reading many posts here, seeing YouTube reviews, and watching IG influencers, etc. I initially narrowed my sights on the Tissot PRX series, design-wise it reminded me a lot of the Nixon I had, but obviously with a premium increase in quality. On the last two days of the trip I found a quiet jewelry store and authorized retailer. Tried the many sizes and dial colors of the PRX but wasn’t sold. It just didn’t sit right on my wrist and have the same eye-appeal as its online ads. Assuming my watch hunt would wait another day, as I was leaving the store my eye gravitated toward a leather-strapped watch tucked away in the display corner. That was it, love at first sight, the Longines Spirit Pilot 39mm. I was instantly sold, loved the fit and look, but was hesitant on the price tag. Talked to the sales representative, decided not to buy it and sleep on it instead. When I came back the next day, the store-owner recognized me and spoke with the sales representative to knock the price down a bit more and then explained the whole tax-free process for me. Done deal; after everything factored, I’m in it for ~2022€. Needless to say I’m so happy with this purchase, love the Spirit Pilot’s classy dress look but it is sporty enough for everyday casual wear. Just felt I had to share the milestone, cheers to the start of a new collection!
