Egos philosophy is wrong in the long run
Isagi internally called out that Rin was following Ego’s logic of playing for your own glory, but it failed miserably since it led to a Loki counterattack and caused Japan to lose 4-2.
To that, Isagi even acknowledges that the philosophy itself may be wrong, and I honestly tend to agree.
To win a World Cup, any participating nation needs a squad with players who are elite in specific positions so they can perform at their maximum potential.
Ego’s philosophy feels more like a La Masia-style academy specifically designed for strikers.
This creates an environment where every player, even defenders, only knows how to attack.
That leads to a situation where any nation with even decent attackers could consistently score against Blue Lock.
The notion that Japan is weak compared to France simply because France has talent in the “right positions” feels flawed.
If that logic were true, then Japan realistically shouldn’t even aim for a World Cup win in the first place.
Historically, Japan has produced generational players in multiple positions, not just forwards.
Blue Lock should have been a place where players in every position aimed to become the best in the world at their role, not just attackers that's going to be an area of weakness for Japan later on
to add detail to one of my points, Niko in the Nigeria match had made significant physical progress to make up for his height but that still makes him a striker with good physical attributes rather than a defender (attribute wise other than height he's similar to Haaland)
