Is life better for you this year?

(1) In 2025 families are paying here an average of $310 more on groceries above previous year.  Ground beef for example increased by roughly $71 annually  - USAD

(2) 64% of people who have lost food assistance are young people just entering the workforce.  Food insecurity is at COVID levels now.

(3) Utility bills in New York have risen by 46.75%

Clean energy that GOP has just cut funding in New York would have reduced that.

(4) Credit card debt hit just shy of the historic all-time high

(5) Families wages are falling behind inflation (but high-earners have seen gains)

(6) Family premiums for employer health insurance is near $27,000 says KFF.....the sectors that spend the most (prior available data) on Mike Lawler are financial institutions, Health, Energy, a lot of single issue ideological contributors.  Many of these very institutions are benefiting directly from rising costs.

Has life gotten better for you in NY District 17?

The biggest single campaign funding entity for Mike Lawler is AIPAC. Beyond this, the sectors that spend the most (prior available data) on him are financial institutions, Health, Energy, a lot of single issue ideological contributors.  Many of these very institutions are benefiting directly from rising costs. see opensecrets(dot)org, it's legit

Look whose standing behind Rep. Miller

Mike Lawler standing behind a man A GOP Rep. who is accused of hurting his own toddler and pulling a gun on his wife.  Well Lawler said the Epstein investigation was (quote) " a lot of nonsense,” “There are a lot of issues ..right now. A dead pedophile ain’t one of them.”

The cuts to healthcare here in NY17 are not hypothetical

Focus groups refuse to believe healthcare cuts are coming January, when it’s spelt out.

Several posts here have pointed to the study that listed 446 hospitals are risk of closing next year. I see that Fitch Ratings state that Trump's bill (Lawler was key in supporting) is ‘ the dominant near-term threat hospitals. ‘

You don’t need a study to tell you people will die.   GOP are doing it with the red tape.  So folks with terminal cancer or dialysis three days a week will not only have to prove with a documents the illness but will now have prove that the illness prevents them from working 20 hours a week. I’m not sure who would make that determination? The billing department? That's the point.

Red states are demanding the documentation a full year before the federal deadline but the hospital study says New York will be one of the most affected. Mike Lawler has been quiet on that.  I guess they’ll be a lot of finger pointing in 2027.

I'm seeing only four hospitals in District 17 that are threatened. That can't be right. For example why isn't Blythedale Children hospital on the lists. 80% of their children receive Medicaid. The cuts must threaten Blythedale's no? For sure they'll be big staff cuts.

The SAVE Act is not asking for an ID

If you don’t have a passport or equivalent you will have to get a birth certificate.   Not a hospital,  but an official-signed with govern stamped from your vital records Office.  Then, you would still have to also bring an ID with a photo. It would have to be state or local gov. issued photo ID, and you of course you need proof of residency.

If there’s any difference between the record of birth and the ID you’re probably out of luck. I say that because I most don’t know what out-of-state documentation looks like.  Currently anyone can challenge another persons vote, but the SAVE act goes way beyond that and empowers anybody to sue an election official if they think someone else’s documentation is not correct.  And DHS is saying the official could face jail time here.

But here’s the thing anyone needs to know.    All of this has to be done in person at an election office. Even if say your state allows some of sent in you will still at the end have to show up at an election office.

Rep. Mike Lawler would do better getting a lottery ticket.

People go into politics for the right reasons and the wrong reasons.  It’s not hard to tell the difference. One lives to serve, the other hopes their on the gravy train.   Daily Mail a few months ago detailed how Lawler’s financial filings revealed his campaign blew donor money well over hundred thousand on the high life, boats, limos, five-star hotels and ritzy resorts. (my favorite $3,500 sushi, while apparently staff was eating pizza).

Lawler has made no secret of wanting Hochul’s job. I predict he’s not going to make it up the pecking chain. Natural selection weeds out the ineffective.  He’s been five years in survival mode. He takes credit for others work* but most voters know how little he’s brought us. In fact,  in his entire career he has authored one bill that made it into law -  Enhanced Presidential Security Act of 2024.  He boast of SALT cap but that was a 100% deduction before Trump and Lawler put a cap on it, raised it. * check congress(dot)gov. The sponsor name is the author. Cosponsor means added their name.

Lawler even came to Trump's defense with Epstein

Talking of Epstein investigation Lawler said “  this seems like a colossal waste of time and effort, and frankly, a lot of nonsense,” Lawler said. “There are a lot of issues facing this country right now. A dead pedophile ain’t one of them.” (. FYI, we still dont have the unredacted Epstein files )
