Farewell, Lord Gandalf (13) 💔

Having expressed my condolences and commiserated with people here who lost their beloved pets, I didn’t think I would be posting about the loss of my furry child so soon. But all good things must come to an end — even when that end comes far too soon. Gandalf passed away today after a brave battle with cancer. It’s hard to put into words what he meant to us. He was the sweetest, goofiest, and smartest kitty I’ve ever known. I always thought I was a dog person…until Gandalf arrived in our lives. Everyone who met him fell in love instantly. Maybe it was his super-chill personality; he brought a quiet calm no matter what was happening in the outside world. Nothing ever fazed him. Our floor vacuum had to go around him as he simply refused to budge.
He filled our lives with his presence and personality — from his insistent meows demanding attention, his supervision of all activities around the house, to being a wonderful brother to Minerva, our younger kitty. He was also my in-house supermodel for photography. While it hurts deeply to say goodbye, we are grateful for the 12+ joyful years and the countless memories and moments he gave us. Rest in peace, my boy. Until we meet again.
