Starting a master's at UZH in the fall, a few questions about finding a WG!

Hi! I'm a 22-year-old Italian student who got accepted to the Master in Economics and Management at UZH, starting next fall. I'm beginning to look for a shared apartment (WG) and have already found a few good options, but I have an honest question about the casting process.

I'm not sure it's really a thing in Italy, and when I did my Erasmus in Germany I never had to do one, so I'm genuinely curious: is it really that big of a deal? And is it usually necessary to be there in person, or do flats often accept a video call, especially for people still abroad?

Second, I'd love to know where the sweet spot is for price vs. convenience. I've found a couple of good options in Oerlikon, which I think could work well for my degree, since from what I understand most of my classes would be at the Zentrum campus and some might be in Oerlikon. Does that sound like a good location, or are there other neighbourhoods you'd recommend for that balance?

Lastly, a more practical question: if I've found places I genuinely like now, does it make sense to try to secure one for September already, or is it too early and better to keep looking closer to the date?

Thanks a lot in advance!
