"The Blooming Hour" painted last summer ✨

I was just really in the mood to paint something fairy-ish and flowery and dreamy. Very Pre-Raphaelite / Waterhouse / Brian Froud inspired, because those artists have had me in a chokehold forever 💜

Painted last summer with water mixable oils on Ampersand gessobord.

"Shadows Whisper" by me.

I made this monotype by painting directly onto a blank copper plate with oil paint, then wiping and scratching the image out with metal tools and rags. After that, I laid paper over the plate and ran it through a printing press, transferring it as a one-of-a-kind print.

I love how unpredictable monotypes are. The whole process kind of feels like pulling a ghost out of the dark 🖤
