Anyone else have books scattered all over their house?

Does anyone else have books scattered all over their house instead of one central bookshelf? Or lack any real organizational system?

I’ve always loved reading, but I got back into collecting physical books about two years ago when we bought our house. Unfortunately, I had to give away a lot of my old books during cross-country moves because I couldn’t fit them in my car. At least they went to good homes!

About 99% of these books are mine, with the health and finance books belonging to my husband. We have pretty different tastes in literature. 😂 I also read a lot on my Kindle, so sometimes I’ll buy a physical copy of a book I really loved or think I’ll want to reread someday.

Most of my collection is thrifted, although there are a few new purchases mixed in (like the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, which my husband actually enjoys too, maybe more than me haha).

I’m a millennial so I have had the HP paraphernalia since before JK Rowling showed her true colors. 😭 Those books were also thrifted (by my mom).

I can never walk into a thrift store without checking the book section, and I almost always leave with more than one. It’s becoming a problem. 😂

I also have a little book exchange in our guest room, kind of like a mini Little Free Library. Guests can leave a book, take a book, or just grab something to read during their stay. We moved to a cool city almost as far away from home as we could get, so we get a decent number of family and friends visiting, and I love having books available for them!

Anyone else have a book collection that’s slowly taking over their entire house?

TL;DR: My book collection is slowly taking over the house, mostly thanks to thrift stores. I also have a mini book exchange in our guest room for visiting friends and family!

Planning Spreads?

Howdy! I’m new to junk journaling. I am wondering…Do yall have ideas for spreads and collect specific junk over time to contribute to that idea, or just look at all the junk you have and then make spreads from that?

I find myself doing both and the ones I don’t plan usually turn out better.

Curious what other folks do.

My first spread!

I’ve been lurking in the junk journal subreddit for over a year and I finally started my own after attending a craft fair yesterday. I’m pretty happy with it and excited to fill this old planner with more fun spreads!

Thank you all for inspiring me to start this journey. 🩷✨

Need ideas! Extending patio roof

We bought a townhouse a couple years ago and overall really love it, but one thing has always bothered us: our roof over the patio doesn’t extend all the way out to the edge like everyone else’s in the community does. Because of that, the patio gets soaked whenever it rains and way more debris falls into the space. We honestly have no idea why the builders designed ours differently.

Our HOA dissolved, so there’s no formal approval process anymore, but we’d still want to be considerate of neighbors if we did anything permanent.

We’re pretty new homeowners and trying to figure out what makes the most sense here:

  1. What would it realistically take to permanently extend the roof? Any rough ballpark on cost? We both make decent money, but we’re definitely not in “drop $100k without blinking” territory, and I’m worried this kind of project could get very expensive fast.

  2. Would it make more sense to partially enclose the space into more of a sunroom instead? One thing to note: our AC condenser is located on the patio.

  3. What are some smaller-scale DIY-friendly options that still look good? Shade sails, pergolas, awnings, etc?

Would appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve dealt with similar townhouse patio situations. Thanks!
