Solo travel advice in Australia

Hello lovely people

I have known AU only from two major references- cricket and MasterChef Australia.

As it happens, now I need to travel to Australia about first week of September for work. I am scheduled to travel to Sydney and Perth. While the days will be packed with meetings and work events, evenings should be relatively free to explore.

Need some advice on things to consider while traveling as solo female. Any help with navigating the public transport system, esp in Perth. Recommendations on places to visit, things to buy as souvenir and be a good tourist.

P.s. This also happens to be my first solo international trip so I am equally nervous and excited. Any help/suggestions from trusted fellow Indians would be appreciated!

Like a fool on the Hill

Hope this Beatles title grabbed some attention on this sub that mostly talks about numbers.

I always see these influencers (mostly tech guys) who are working remotely somewhere in the mountains and have probably retired over there for a good phase of their lives.

I also see some DINK and nuclear families that have chosen to achieve FIRE, moving to a tier 2 city and starting their influencing channels and have left the corporate world.

However what I haven't seen are single women making this content or talking or discussing about it. As 32F I have planned for Lean FIRE but I wonder if there is something I am missing, something I haven't quite considered.

So all the ladies out there or people who have achieved FIRE, pls share advice or insights as to how achieving FIRE may be different for a single woman. I understand there is a safety concern but if you were to plan FIRE in your tier 2 hometown?

Kasar Devi- A silent paradise

After starting a thread asking for travelling recommendation between Kasar Devi and Uttarkashi, I finally took redditors' advice and went to Kasar devi for 3 days 2 nights.

Travel: Reaching here is not the easiest. For people travelling via public transport, I would recommend going via bus from Delhi to Haldwani/kathgodam and booking a taxi to Almora by yourself. I happened to land upon a great deal which cost me INR 350 by "getbookbus" from Delhi to Haldwani. From Haldwani, another 350 to Almora. Rented a scooty in almora which was 500 a day.

Accommodation: I can't rave enough about the accomodation. Stayed at this place called The Norling homestay. It had the best mountain view and the hospitality was top notch. Homestay is run by a couple in their 50/60s and they treat you like your own child. Bonus: I mentioned to homestay aunty that I like gardening and she gave me a looooots of plants 😊. This place also offers a great spot for stargazing. The pictures with buddhist flag are from the homestay. And YES, that's the view from the window. Contact: 94129 27527. The mountain view room was about 1500 a night.

Kasar Devi, the place: For the un-initiated, Kasar Devi is situated on the van allen belt (which is said to have heightened magnetic forces) and only two other sites in the world can boast for that. The serenity of the place is not just in the temple but all over the town. I had never experienced silence like this and as if through osmosis, the serenity of the place would fill your heart with calmness. I would wake up to an amazing mountain view, go to the temple, stay there for hours and then begin my day.

Drive: The drive through Kasar Devi is nothing short of a movie sequence. Beautiful roads, lush green scenery and unforgettable landscapes wherever you see. I would also recommend going to Kosi or Binsar if time permits.

Food: The homestay offered great homecooked meal but I also visited Satya cafe nearby which again had great views, good music, one very energetic husky and some space brownies.

TLDR: Kasar Devi - great views in every direction you see. Calm, serene place that will centre you. Special because of its placement on the Van Allen belt. This is a place for people who want to get in touch with their own spiritual energy and the ones who can enjoy the sight of clouds floating by for hours.

Special request to everyone planning to go: This place is so special and pristine because the people have taken efforts to keep it that way. Please respect the serenity of the place and help maintain it. All the instagram clicks can be taken while maintaining peace of this place 🙏

Kasar devi or uttarkashi

People of Uttarakhand, please help me with some reviews.

I am planning a solo travel from Delhi next weekend to one of these destinations

I find peace around mountains and rivers. Considering the weather, availability of accomodation, safety for female traveler and roads for 2 wheeler, which one would you suggest?

Kasar devi would be a bit of a ride from Almora. And very few buses travel between Delhi and uttarkashi + it's a long journey

Would love recommendations on hidden spots too.

N5: How to improve grammar

Here we are- last few days left for preparation.

My strategy has been mostly giving mocks and working on the weaker sections. So far, I have tried Unagi bun and MigiiJLPT but online resources are few and far between.

Please recommend other online free test simulation. Also, I am consistently struggling with grammar (sentence formation) and passages (mostly because I run out of time).

Any tips to improve sentence formation and those specific fill in the blanks questions with stars?

Any recommendations are appreciated!!!

Tips for calisthenics beginner/enthusiast

Hi all

I am thinking of starting a calisthenics routine. Have checked out this place called Grip and Grab in Delhi which seems okay at first.

To be clear, I am 33 rn and I have not started yet but have been thinking about it. I do basic workout /strength but I am not very good with cardio and often feel out of breath.

My focus is not to lose weight or anything but just to improve agility. I won't be able to spare more than 1 hour in a day.

Let me know what are your thoughts on calisthenics? Whether you would rather it above or below gym/weight training? And any reviews about Grip&Grab.

Dear Indian parrot parents

I have this lovely plum headed parakeet with me for almost 4 years now. Initially, I was supposed to get a pair but the other one could not survive, this lill baby is also a bit hurt and cannot fly. So there is no cage at home and he is free to roam about in the entire house, my bed, anywhere really...

Lately I feel this one feels lonely and I am looking for a companion for him. Ideally, the companion should be of the same species and the opposite gender but given the situation of the wing injury, I do not want Zai to feel bad about another parrot who is able to fly.

I want a companion for my baby and in effect another baby for myself.

So here's the request:

Any parrot/parakeet

Rescues are more than welcome

Can pick up anywhere from Delhi NCR

PS: Helpful comments will be appreciated. OP is well aware about the extant law applicable in this case.
