grandpa’s jade!

hi peeps!

my grandma passed away at the start of the year. grandpa has been taking care of all her plants and has decent know-how about making sure the soil is dry before watering it, stuff like that.

im making this post mostly to show off this magnificent beast. i love her so much!! no idea how old she is, but definitely older than me.

im also making this post to see if anyone has any care ideas. it’s in a porch that receives a lot of light, so know it’s been baked by the heatwaves. unfortunately there’s nowhere else to move it to, really. she’s still putting out very healthy new growth so eh, she’s tolerating it. there’s no blinds or anything to get it more shady on the hotest days.

Im most concerned about the shrivelling bits, in pics 3-5.

we just turned it 180°, so in the pic the right side has been on the left by the window for an age and the left side has been more shaded.

mystery gift

hello! my mum was gifted this beaut from a neighbour, who has split her plant. i think it’s a stromanthe triostar, but haven’t seen one in person before to reference. any ideas?

we’ve been told it likes shady spots and a lot of water.

any care tips appreciated!

also: there’s a big white spidery thing on the leaf in the third pic. it was very dead and ive checked the whole plant for pests, and there are no more thankfully.

no cala left behind

couldnt leave this poor thing on the shelf. her roots are in good shape and she’s just thirsty! however, does anyone got any idea whats on the back of her big leaves? its a scaly texture, not a living pest. i’m already resigned to cutting them off as they’re in very rough shape - just want to keep it in mind in case it appears on the newer growth :^)

Wilting maculata

Hi there! I hope someone can help figure out what’s wrong with my maculata. i’ve had her for about a month in indirect, then direct morning light as the colour on the back of her leaves was a bit pale.

She seemed okay — I prunes some scraggly leaves, put a cane in, the big leaves were darkening, and the stem is producing more shoots — until the past week. Her biggest leaves have completely curled up, the newest leaves have not properly unfolded, the stem with her flowers on is dropping, and the new growth has stopped. All the leaves feel quite weak and thin.

I’m think I may have underwatered her so upped her water for this past week and have misted a couple of times but it’s not helped. I also moved her back to indirect light. Checked the roots and for pests - no problems there as far as I can tell.

Anyone experienced this before?

Thanks in advance!
