What made you realise it wasn't just a fetish?

Background: I have for many many years compartmentalized my feelings regarding gender, and labeled it all a fetish or kink of some sort. I found the autogynephilia theory early, and felt it matched me good. And felt it was all just linked to my sexuality, and that my desire to have a female body was mostly sexual.

But this is some time ago, I now think differently. And in order to put these thoughts to rest, I was wondering if someone who had gone from thinking they had a fetish, and then later realised they were actually a transgender woman and gone on to successfully transition, could say a fey words about what made them finally realise that they were actually transgender?

Questions?

- How did you use to identify?
- How did this identity evolve over time?
- What made you realise you were actually a transgender woman and not just having a fetish? Was there a single realisation or multiple things?
- How do you feel about transitioning today?
