How long did it take for your hormones to level out after reinsertion?
Hey all,
I had my first Mirena inserted 9 years ago and I just recently had it replaced about two months ago (I was supposed to get it replaced last year but health insurance issues delayed it, yaaaaay :/ ). I had a reallllllly bad crash when the hormones started finally wearing off the last three or so months, I was having extreme mood swings, crying all the time, extreme anxiety, and waking up with surges of cortisol even when nothing was going on. I've also struggled with negative thoughts and intrusive thoughts and it was just an absolute nightmare until I got it replaced, and almost immediately I started feeling a sense of relief from all those symptoms. But I still find that even after two months I'm not quite back to myself, especially around my period (which abruptly stopped right away, I thought it would taper off again) and while things have gotten progressively better, I still feel my hormones surge now and again and it's really frustrating. Has anyone else had a similar experience, did your emotions balance out over time? Did you start truly feeling like yourself again? I've generally had a very positive experience on mirena, thats why I'm continuing to use it, but I'm just hoping I can recover from the crash/hormonal imbalance for good.
Thanks!
