A practical reason why we should follow Wuwei

This is a very Daoist view. Not chasing positive experiences but embracing the (negative) ones we spontaneously have as an integral and necessary part of existence. In turn, this allows sustainable positive experiences to naturally emerge.

The more *Yang* experiences we seek, the more *Yin* will have to come with it to balance things out. *Wuwei* is about letting both kinds to occupy a comfortable place within our lives, instead of avoiding or suppressing any of them.

Buddhists would disagree with some of this.

IT'S OUT! Woot!

Will it automatically replace the current one on my system?

I don't want to manually install it if I don't have to, as it won't be automatically updated later on if I do. But you can use ProtonUp-Qt to install it.

Proton (SLR and Native)

Updated to the most recent Proton Experimental release 11.0-20260428

##Acknowledgments First of all, I would like to thank @Etaash-mathamsetty of Proton-EM and @NelloKudo of DWProton for their immense contribution to the project in general and for helping with the rebase on top of Proton 11 in particular.

##Core Changes & Configuration

  • ntsync Integration: The PROTON_USE_NTSYNC environment variable and related configuration have been removed. This is now the default (matching Valve's Proton 11). > Note: If needed, ntsync can still be disabled using PROTON_NO_NTSYNC.
  • Wayland & HDR: Imported winewayland.drv updates from Proton-EM 11.
    • Important: Proton-CachyOS does not enable HDR by default to avoid enforcing a requirement for Nvidia 595 drivers. Use PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 to enable it manually.
  • SteamRT4 Migration: Proton 11 uses SteamRT4, which lacks some libraries found in SteamRT3. Consequently, some media plugins in gstreamer and ffmpeg have been disabled.
    • Feedback Requested: Please report any missing media in games compared to Proton-CachyOS 10.

##Patches and Fixes

  • Wine-Staging: Almost all wine-staging patches from version 10 have been removed. We are keeping patches to a minimum, adding them selectively only when strictly required to fix specific issues.
  • DualSense: These patches have been removed pending a rebase onto Proton 11. They may be added back in future versions if necessary.
  • Asseto Corsa: The specific AC patch was removed. The game's HUD functions correctly using CSP 0.3, and the previous patch was suboptimal.
  • Audio Fix: Resolved an issue where PROTON_GST_VIDEO_ORIENTATION was interfering with audio playback.

Architecture & Build Changes

  • x86_64_v4 Removal: The x86_64_v4 package is no longer provided as it offered no substantial performance gains and freed up build workflow resources.
    • Recommendation: Users should switch to x86_64_v3 or the standard x86_64 builds.

Proton (SLR specific)

  • None

Proton (Native specific)

  • Pure wow64: The native Arch package is now pure wow64.
  • Rationale: This change addresses the removal of lib32-* packages from Arch and reduces reliance on the AUR.
  • Best Practice: For maximum compatibility, we continue to recommend using the Steam Linux Runtime (-slr) package.

Wine (Standalone)

  • None
