Sanity check: shaker cabinets

I’m getting cold feet about my shaker cabinet order that will be placed tomorrow. My house is a colonial, so shaker makes sense. What I wanted was shaker uppers and slab lowers, because all I can think about are the agonies of cleaning shaker lowers. However, due to major unforeseen expenses, my cabinet budget has been slashed. My best quality-for-value option with the fastest lead time (we are currently displaced from the house) doesn’t have slab options.

Will I regret going with shaker lowers if it sets me up for years of struggling to keep them clean from drips and spills? Is there some sort of hack to make cleaning shakers easier? Any and all advice appreciated.

I’ve been on “Team Natural Stone or Nothing” until this gorgeous quartz stopped me in my tracks. I love it wholeheartedly. In comparison to this, all the quartzites and granites I’ve been looking at just don’t move me.

This is a hugely expensive endeavor, and I want to get something I love.

However… our kitchen gets relentless sun. From noon to sunset, all year round, it positively bakes our house.

Can adding UV-blocking film to my windows protect a quartz like this from discoloration?

Or do I have to suck it up and spend gobs of money on second-best? (HCOL area)

Kind honesty is appreciated. Thank you.

EDIT - our windows are brand-new standard-glass Anderson 400s
