Spider-Man made a cure for cancer and procedures to not mass produce it and save countless lives because he really is a menace
Cancer is mutated cells that grow without control, thus a device that suppresses mutated cells would be more effective and safer with little to no side effects compared to even the best chemotherapy of today, not to mention the money he could have made had he sold it, he could have been the next Ironman
