Anything to watch out for when installing digital locks on a double door?

We’re doing our BTO reno and have a double-leaf main door, so we’re looking at getting a digital lock.

I’m a bit worried it’s not as straightforward as installing one on a normal single door. Things like whether we need locks on both sides, how the two doors are secured together, alignment issues, or whether the lock will still work smoothly after the door settles.

For those with double doors, anything you wish you knew before installing?

Any particular things to check with the installer before committing? Or features that are actually useful for a double-door setup?

Would appreciate any real-life experience, especially if you’ve been using yours for a while.

What happens when a digital lock dies after warranty? Trying to avoid an expensive BTO mistake.

My bigger concern isn’t really fingerprint vs face unlock or all the fancy features. It’s what happens when the lock starts acting up 2–3 years down the road.

We’re currently deciding between a cheaper package from a lesser-known seller and a more established brand. Feature-wise, they’re pretty similar, but I’m more worried about after-sales support once the warranty is over.

Have heard a few horror stories about slow response, hard-to-find replacement parts and older models being discontinued.

For those who’ve actually had to repair or replace a digital lock after warranty — how was the experience? Did the seller come down and sort it out properly, or was it a headache?

Would also love to know which brands/sellers you’ve had good experiences with, and which ones you’d avoid.

BTO reno already damn expensive — what digital lock features are actually worth paying for?

We’re at the stage where every “small upgrade” somehow adds another few hundred dollars to the reno bill...

Now we’re looking at digital locks and honestly, the options are quite overwhelming. Some come with cameras, remote unlock, palm vein, app access, gate sync etc. Sounds damn nice, but I’m wondering how many of these features we’ll actually use after the novelty wears off.

For those who’ve been using a digital lock for a few years — if you were choosing again, what features would you definitely pay for?

And what would you say is really not worth spending extra on?

Trying to find something basic, reliable and fuss-free without blowing the reno budget. Would appreciate some real-life experiences.
