Anyone ever gotten their students CERTIFIED?? Like something to prove they're good at Englishing and how well they can English.

A student asked me if he can get some sort of official certification to show that he can speak English and at what level. I'm a private teacher, I'm not accredited by anyone to dish out official certs, or am I?

Has anyone ever gotten accedited to issue certifications? Is there a budget friendly accreditor?

I found this one for free

Starting to teach working adults ... what's the ideal class length and frequency for professionals learning English?

Hey y'all! 👋

So I currently work at a college as an ESL teacher and now want to start doing some private online group lessons since I've built a good network of non English speaking professionals.

I'm stuck at how to I struture the timings.

Does every other day or every day work best? 60 mins or 90 mins?

What has your expereince been like? Cautionary tales welcome :)

Am I over preparing for teaching a private speaking group?

I've taught from books before, given currciulums and excuted them flawlessly for a long time. Now, I'm trying to do private group lessons for professionals who want to improve their speaking skills. They range from A2 to B1.

The group starts in a month and I'm trying to put together a curriculum aaaaand I'm getting some serious analysis paralysis.

I'm trying to have everything ready before because I think that for what they're paying for, the students should have a good finished product ready to go. I'm also a liiiiittle terrified because it's the first time I've done something like. I feel like I need to have everything polished just like a good academy (that's worth paying for) would.

For those of you that do private speaking groups, how do you do it? How do you know you're 'ready'?

I know you can never be 'perfectly' ready, just want to be competent :)

What's a fair price to learn spoken English from an American teacher in Islamabad?

So as the title says. I'm an American English Teacher and I recently moved here with my wife who is from PK to help care for her elderly mother after her father passed away. My work is primarily online teaching English to GCC professionals and I was thinking of starting something here in PK.

I am not ethnically from the subcontinent and don't speak urudu, so my students have to try and communicate in English :)

I know it's not the GCC, so what would be a fair monthly price for:

1-on-1 classes 5 hours/ week
Group (6 students max) classes 5 hours/ week

They would both be online for now. In the near future, if this starts to pick up, I am thinking about getting a place in I-8 or somewhere else that's central.

A little bit about my teaching background:

  • 10+ years of English teaching and tutoring
  • Cambridge University certified English Teacher
  • Taught English in the US, UK, and GCC

What's a fair price for this kind of value?

I was thinking of charging 7K for group and 15K for 1-on-1 (which could be under cutting myself, I guess?) just to get a feel for the market then think about moving it up or down. Is that too high or low? I have tried to look at websites of places like NICON and Times, but they've conviently not mentioned them. No I don't do IELTS. My focus is practical fluency, accent reduction, and confidence.

THIS IS NOT AN AD. IM JUST ASKING ABOUT FAIR PRICING. I DON'T WANT TO GET BANNED FROM THIS GROUP, PLEASE AND THANK YOU :)

Payment providers other than stripe? Target market is in MENA.

At the minute I don't want to use Stripe and other MORs built on Stripe (like polar) as well as ... most American and UK payment providers ... has anyone used any other EU based or MENA based payment providers?
