DFW – Hoping to reach the right person

This is hard to share, but I’m an undergrad in the DFW area in need of a kidney donor (blood type O).

I’m currently working with my transplant team at Medical City Dallas, and a healthy donor could truly save my life.

Even if you are not of the same blood type, your donation can still help me through our hospital’s kidney donation swap program. Donors and recipients are paired to find compatible matches

Our insurance will cover all the testing and medical costs for the donor

Question about kidney transplant and donor matching programs in Texas

I'm a young adult in Texas currently on the kidney transplant waitlist, and I'm trying to better understand how living kidney donation works here in the state.

I’ve learned that in many cases, donors don’t have to be a direct match, and kidney paired donation (swap programs) can allow incompatible donors and recipients to still help save lives through matching systems.

For those familiar with this process in Texas—how does living donor evaluation usually work, and how are people typically connected through transplant centers?

If anyone has experience with Texas transplant centers or resources that explain this clearly, I’d really appreciate the information.

Thank you for your time.

You Don't Have to Be a Match to Help: Understanding Kidney Donation Swap Programs

I'm a young adult in the DFW area awaiting a kidney transplant. Finding a living donor can significantly reduce wait times and improve outcomes for patients like me.

Many people don't realize that donors don't always need to be a direct match. Through kidney donation swap programs, an incompatible donor may still be able to help someone in need.

If you'd like to learn more about living kidney donation or kidney paired donation, you can reach out through a transplant center or speak with your healthcare provider. I'd be grateful if you could share this post and help spread awareness.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
