Repurpose old Mitel phones?

Current have a Mitel 3300. 75 IP phones (6920/6940) and 80 analog phones (hotel rooms with cat3).

Time to go cloud. Need ATAs to convert analog to SIP.

Can any providers reuse our Mitel phones with custom firmware? I’m guessing no, but thought I’d try.

Current leader is ESI. Any others to look at?

Cheapest way to HA

What setups are you using for small businesses? 20-30 VMs. 20TB.

Is shared storage the best way? SAN?

Wondering if replication is acceptable? 5 mins max of data loss?

Looks like I want SMF. How many strands?

Which 1U patch panel is best for this?

Budget cluster

Anyone built any budget clusters? I love refurbished Dell R740xd servers. Need about 10TB and 30 low IOPs VMs. 16GB each.

Wondering what people are doing for cheap clusters these days. Be nice to get rid of storage switches, just a few servers or a SAN with direct connections to the servers.

Wheel shake

2023 with 40k. Shake between 65-75mph pretty good. Got new tires and wheels last week (Discount Tire), still does it. Took it to another tire shop (Firestone) this morning, they rebalanced wheels and did an alignment. $215. Still shakes.

Any ideas what to do now? Getting frustrated. Firestone claims they drove it and shake was fixed. Looks like a few miles were put on car. Do I hold their hand and go on a drive with them so they can’t lie?

Wondering if I have tie rods or bad rotors. Gotta be rotation related? Anyone dealt with this?

Advice on steering wheel shake

Hit a curb at 15mph a while back in a 2023 Jeep Compass. Front driver. Steering wheel shakes pretty good after 65mph on highway. Still goes straight.

I replaced my wheels and tires with aftermarket’s today at Discount Tire. It’s still shaking after 65mph. Discount Tire put it on their alignment rack and it’s off, but they couldn’t fix it. Said to go to an alignment shop. Said something out it requires adjusting subframe on my car. Either tech is clueless or didn’t want to deal with it?

Should I take to an alignment shop, like Firestone? What suspension part would cause the wheel shaking at certain speeds? I would have thought new wheels and tires would fix it.

Thanx

PoE in old elevators

What’s your go to product for installing a PoE camera in an old elevator? Our cars have two wires for data (coax balun) and two wires for power (12v). Using AGD 2MP cams currently but want to upgrade to 4k. Over $15k a car to install cat5.

Do I need reservations?

What else are must do’s? We want to hike the rainforest one day. Our houses are on beach, so relaxing a lot too and walking around.

Where to start?

Have a commercial building with a lot of different rooms that have between 20-100 people in each room. Cell service sucks outside the building, a few bars.

What’s the best option to get good 4/5g service to my customers for all providers?

Standalone servers

Need to replace my 11 year old VMware cluster. 3x R630 and a 1GB iscsi Nimble CS300 with 15tb. 40 VMs.

Tempted to go with a couple refurbished Dell R740xd ssd standalone servers and keep it simple. Use Veeam, so can quickly restore if one dies. Will replicate two or three VMs that are critical.

What hardware are you using for standalone servers?

TBH, having my hypervisor added to the domain worries me. Always liked my VMware and Windows AD environments having completely different logins. I hear that’s possible in Server 2025? Works fine?
