Sophomore in high school here with a question, am I in over my head w/ all this?

Hi. I‘ve played 1st trombone since I started music back in the fifth grade, and play 2nd bone in Jazz. I was the top musician in middle school and am now one of the top low brass musicians at my high school (three above me). I absolutely adore marching band and attend all the pep band games I can when marching season ends.

Over the summer I purchased as marching baritone and have been practicing that all summer, as well as studying up on DCI. With the help of my section leader (who is auditioning for Troopers this year), we decided I should audition for an open class corps. The ones I landed on that stuck with me were Blue Devils B, Gold, and Impulse, mainly because I have family in California.

I don’t want to be handheld through the audition process (I saw your post “old lady with an opinion”), I just want to know if I’m aiming too high or if I’m alright.

Hey everyone! Listen to this album now and tell me what you think! (More info in desc.)

It’s called “Halfway to the Place Behind the Stars“ by Streetlight Manifesto. One of my all time favorite albums ever and it’s only half released!

For those of you who are unaware (I’m guessing most since this band is fairly unknown to Gen A), this genre of music is called Ska, which is pretty much fast punk rock with horns… but happier. Think of Bob Marley. He was part of the very early ska scene (definitely not what Ska is now) before his music became what is now known as Reggae.

Anyhoo tell me what you think and also give it a rating out of 10 if you will.

I main trombone but I’m auditioning for DCI this year…

I’m getting a euph soon and I was wondering, should I march euph at my school to practice for auditions or should i just keep playing trombone and just practice euphonium on my own time? I’ve played euphonium before and marching season for me ends right when auditions start for DCI

I’ve currently made sextet arrangements of Kristina, Ants Go Marching (from the live shows), and a combo arrangement of Fourth Wave and On & On. So you know the movie The Ring? Yeah so basically I got cursed by Mike Ness with that video but for procrastination, and if I didn’t pass it on within 7 days i would never release the album. Problem is, that day was yesterday. Sorry gng no more album. All the shows are cancelled and I killed Jim.
