This lady tried to get me fired
I’m from NC and work at a local restaurant that serves salads/ grain bowls and wraps, and this story happened yesterday. It was a typical day and everything was going smoothly, until the power went out. I’ve worked there almost 2 years and have never seen that. The outage only lasted for about 5 minutes or so, but during that time we had to pause taking orders, because our pos was down. Once the power went back on I went to work on a young couples bowls, they looked early 30s.
Their bowls went normally, until I asked the husband what dressing he wanted, he said salt and pepper, so I put that in the salad. He dosent say anything at first but then he asks me “Is salt and pepper a dressing?” This question threw me off a bit, bc no one has ever asked me what salt and pepper was. Also this man just watched me put salt and pepper on his salad directly after asking him what dressing he wanted. I genuinely was confused and said “…No they’re seasoning.”
I didn’t think anything of the conversation until today, when my manager says “hey you remember that couple with the toddlers yesterday, they sent an email to the owner.” Dude these people were absolutely slandering my name, they said I was very rude and refused to answer their question’s, they complained about the prices (which btw 1 I don’t control, 2 if you chicken, steak, bacon all added on to a salad it’s gonna be more expensive, duh. And 3 the prices are right in front of you, like if it’s too expensive don’t buy it!) They kept referring to me as “the ginger” since I have red hair, normally I would never care, but they were saying it in such a weird way just to hate on me. The funniest part about the conversation though is when she gets to why I was rude: “He was very rude to my husband, who has an above average iq (😭). He made fun of him for a confusion about the salt and pepper which was clearly listed under the dressings, a reasonable question.” That part sent me, I was never rude to you, I greeted you when you came in, asked how you were doing, made your salad exactly the way you asked, answered every question to the best of my ability, and ya try to get me fired. Thanks karen couple. Luckily my manager was there bc he was able to vouch for me to the owner that it was some bs. I guess the guy who embarrassed he asked a dumbass question, but man I just wish I could talk to these people and understand why they were so upset. When they left I told them to have a great rest of their day, they said thanks you to. I thought we were cool mane, but I guess he had a little insecure moment, so wifey had to step in and write her email!
Deadaas tho what was I supposed to say to there? Like ya asked me a question and I gave you the answer don’t shoot the messenger
Tldr
wife writes the owner crashing out bc her husband asked me if salt and pepper was a dressing and I told him that it was a seasoning.
