Mega Evolutions I'd like to see (or not) for Liko
This is a topic I've discussed with other people before. Gen 10 will still take a little while to release, so the anime still has to continue with the Rising Volt Tacklers traveling around, and since it looks like the crew will go to Lumiose at one point, I decided to throw my two cents into the topic of what pokemon with mega evolutions I see Liko getting, or which I'd like her to get.
A whole year without any new catches would be really dull after all, and if she's gonna catch a new mon, why not discuss it among the ones that are capable of mega evolution? Wether or not she actually WILL get one is anyone's guess, but if nothing else I can just make this post for fun.
Originally I was gonna make a post with a tier list about it but since apparently they're not allowed, we're doing this with these images. In order:
-The One: Mega Absol-Z. I think this is a fairly popular choice. Single-stage, so no need to worry about evolving it. And with Absol's lore, it would make for a good addition to Liko's team, especially with her whole deal of understanding pokemon. You may think “but Meowscarada is already a dark type”, fair, but consider how they already made her forget the only dark type move she had (sucker punch), and I don't think Absol would overshadow Meowscarada too much as a dark type, unlike with other types (more on that later). You may also point out that Goh already had an Absol, but let's be honest, he barely used it. I don't know what to do with the regular mega. Maybe she'd start with that one and get the Z-version later.
-Other great alternatives: Based on either vibes (Froslass would fit her team very well), because of a storyline you could make for them (Golisopod could start as a Wimpod that starts learning to be more courageous), or because I just think it'd be neat (Golurk could join the team as a gentle giant). The adult Volt Tacklers sadly are not treated as actual characters anymore, so since I don't see Ludlow getting a Drampa, Liko could get it. Many agree it'd be neat if she caught a dragon type, with Drampa being a nice option.
Many other megas, to some degree, are also good options for the team but are not added here because, too many images. However, there are some exceptions:
-Species owned by someone else: Pretty self-explanatory. I don't see her getting a mega of species used by other characters like Lucario, Glalie or the upcoming Falinks (used by Ivor). This doesn't necessarily rule them out, but it makes them way less likely to be her mega.
-Type repeats: Hatterene and Armarouge really need better showings in the series, so I don't want her getting another fire, fairy and especially not another psychic type. You could make the argument for fairy since Hatterene doesn't even know a fairy move, but I'd much rather her learning one than Liko catching another fairy type. Because Meowscarada is Liko's signature pokemon I also don't see her getting another grass type, but like I explained before, dark types are fair game. Pagogo is not on the team currently sooo, normal types are not ruled out either.
-Legendaries/Mythicals: Not that I don't want her to get them, per se, it's moreso that realistically she's not likely to get them. Eternal Floette is technically not a legendary or mythical but it's also here.
-Greninja: I added Greninja separately because I think it's not likely for Liko to get one. The reason? Ash. The line is too tied to him; unless I'm mistaken, his Greninja was the last one to appear in the anime, which happened years ago. I would also prefer it if we didn't give Liko popular Ash mons so she can stand more on her own.
-Altaria: I'm gonna be honest, out of all the megas I've mentioned, this is one I just do not want her to get. Forget that Grusha uses an Altaria. Heck forget that it becomes a fairy type, circling back to the type repeat issue. I just think it's a boring choice for her. To me it read as the most “we don't know what mega to give to a female character so let's just give her this one” mon out there. You may argue something like Absol also being a boring option for her, but consider this; we've seen Mega Altaria in the pokemon anime already, Mega Absol-Z at least is a fresh one. Not to hate on the mon or the people who like it, I just don't want Liko to get this one.
Aaaaaand I think that's pretty much it. Might as well make this post now before the gang go to Lumiose, since I wanted more people to share these opinions with. Depending on how this post goes I might make another one for Dot, even if I think she is even less likely to get a mega. Thanks for your attention.
