>...
>“Jon?”
>The man who had died and lived again lay on his back.
The sand about him felt unlike snow.
>“Jon, can you hear me?!”
>His pale eyes tried to open.
Something about the place felt cloying.
Like it wanted him to go to sleep.
>But there was a voice. A man’s voice. One he’d never heard before and yet...it felt like he had.
>“Jon, wake up!”
>He felt breath creeping back up his throat as he murmured.
‘Father?’
>"Fuck’s sake, you’re hopeless!”
There was a pause and an irritated-sounding sigh as the voice grew louder. Distinctly noble-sounding but harsh, clipped and gravelly, utterly devoid of courtesy.
“Jon?!”
It groaned before all but bellowing.
“Aegon?!”
>Jon Snow gasped suddenly and scrambled to his feet.
He took in the surroundings.
>He was standing on snow. And yet it wasn’t snow.
It didn’t feel cold. The flakes of frost floating around him and beneath his feet felt dry and papery.
And the snowflakes didn’t fall and land, they spun around, continuously.
>“Welcome back, shithead.” The morose voice sounded again “Look this way please.”
>
>Jon turned around and blinked again.
>A figure stood before him, dressed all in black, just as he was.
But he was slightly shorter and leaner.
>As Jon’s vision began to focus, he became aware of the figure’s distinct face.
He was shockingly pale, almost as much as his long silver hair and scraggly beard.
>His left eye was missing, a deep scar running down that part of his brow.
And across the right side of his face was a red winestain-birthmark in the vague shape of a raven.
>He was scowling at Jon with impatience, his remaining eye a deep crimson.
>He spoke again.
“Why in Seven Hells did he name you Aegon?! Could he really think of any other names?” he shook his head, his one good eye rolling “Your father always was the stupidest Targaryen!”
>Jon Snow stared, barely able to stand up straight.
Confusion ruled his head, his mouth running ahead of his mind.
“Wh-who are you?!”
>The figure gave him a look of stunned contempt.
“...Seriously?!” he snapped “Please tell me you’re joking. I did not come this far to let us get this stupid!”
>Jon clasped his face and fought hard to gather his senses.
He spoke to the man more directly, breathing heavily.
“Are...Are you...Brynden Rivers? ...Bloodraven?”
>Brynden Rivers shot him a disdainful look, raising the brow of his good eye.
“...Well done. What gave it away?”
>“But...” Jon burbled “You’re...you’re dead!”
>“I haven’t forgotten.” Bloodraven scoffed “Don’t make such a big thing of it, it happens to everybody...well...usually.”
