Moving to White River Junction

Hey everyone, my name is Cat and I am actually a returning Vermonter who spent a few years in Bellows Falls/ Brattleboro area. I moved to California to be closer with friends back in 2018 but recently my father needs a caregiver.

I have only visited white river 3 years ago and I stayed in my dad’s place so I never explored. I’m 31 and overwhelmed with this new task as my father recently had a shoulder replacement … so I am now going to be doing everything but I need a job …. Does the state pay for family to be a caregiver? That would help a lot ..

Does anybody have any job recommendations that will allow me to use the bus system? Any suggestions for someone my age in the area? I’m 420 friendly and need recommendations for shops as well.

I’m overwhelmed moving from a very large city back to a small (ish) town and I only know my family. All my friends from Vermont left after H.S .. anyways thank you all.

Moving to White River

Hello my fellow Vermonter’s. My name is Cat and I’m 31. 💜🤍💜 so I originally come from Bellows Falls and moved away to California after some life trauma . .

I’m moving back to White River Junction near the end of July and need some help navigating the bus system because I’ll need a job. ( I don’t have a license )

I’m coming to be my dad’s caregiver but I’m unsure if I can get paid for that or if I could get hired by the state as a caregiver for my dad? (Maybe help with this?)

I’ve never lived in central VT, I’ve always lived in Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Westminster, and went to JobCorps in Vergennes. Visited Burlington once 😮‍💨 so I am NOT familiar… especially since I’ve been in California since 2018…

Anyways anybody from this area with any tips ?

I’m 420 friendly so recommendations are welcome for this as well. I love coffee, I miss the art scene, I won’t know anybody besides family..

WIBTAH- Asking for money

Update - My Dad is going to have surgery, and turns out my Dad contacted my Aunt and she is supposed to help me with the POA stuff so I don’t have to travel and can focus on finding a legitimate job besides the small jobs I was doing to survive (babysitting, cleaning, yard work)

Edit for clarification - I just got out of a LT relationship, who was financially controlling and controlling in general, I’ve been job searching to no avail where I’m at in CA, my ex took everything so I don’t have anything of value to sell (or I would obviously and not ask a question on Reddit)

My father is disabled and currently can’t go to the bank (or he WOULD just send the money and I’d be here by his wishes)

He doesn’t have a lot of money, after his rent, insurance, etc he only has about 500 left over a month or less and my brother and sister usually suck him dry during that point.

I (30F) have a dad who is 64, I live in California and he lives in Vermont. He recently fell and shattered his shoulder, needs a whole replacement. I have no money currently but want to go out there to care give for him because he has a brain tumor as well (non cancerous) and is scared to death. My brother and sister live in Vermont but refuse to help. I’m the only relative in general who wants to help.

All my friends say I’d be the asshole to ask publicly on Facebook because I should have the money but since I’ve been out of work, nobody wants to pay for my vacation …. Is it an asshole move to ask for donations for a trip since it’s not a vacation but more of a welfare check and caregiving for my dad who has to have an entire shoulder replacement?
