French literature
So I went to visit my hometown in Europe, the place where I was born, and I happened to walk past this place in the very touristy centre of town; I don't know if it's a French embassy or some type of cultural centre (because they also had a free exposition about some art downstairs, with a free entry, but I didn't have time to check it out). So I thought (for a joke) to take a photo, especially because one of the mods here once called me an "invader to Quebec", who is somehow responsible for the fact that the rental prices are increasing in Montreal and more people are becoming homeless (but of which I have nothing to do with, I was renting a 480 sq. ft apartment in Launadière, in the same time as my then quebecois boyfriend). And it was because I said that I may speak English not out of contempt for French or because I consider the Quebec people inferior in any way, but simply because I don't know French well enough to expres myself. (I tried to speak French in normal interactions in a grocery store for example, but sometimes I was shy, or I wouldn't know the words).
Anyways, I've been out of Quebec for a year, and I finally went to I visit my hometown in Europe after 3.5 years (though it feels longer than that), and I soooo love it, I wish I could move there and live there, lol. I think I never loved my hometown and felt as good there as I did now (even though I had to stay in a hotel which coincidentally happens to be a maternity hospital a few decades ago, and it's the same building that I was born in - maybe there is something at play there in the air that is influencing why I felt so drawn and in love with my birth city like never before in my life). So this is just a message to versat1l: don't worry, I won't be an invader to Quebec, I think from now on I will dream of going back to my beloved city where nobody will be able to call me an invader (at least I hope).
In the meantime, enjoy the French literature! If I saw a photo of a Quebec flag, I would have taken it, but this is the closest I came (unless you want to count a Canadian flag, but I didn't come across that this time, but I know they have it somewhere - perhaps on more than one place).
And in September, me and my quebecois friend want to come visit here and I will be so proud to show him my beautiful city, with the beautiful architecture, and I would never call him an invader if he one day moved out of Canada/Quebec and came here to live with me (something that we actually joke about sometimes). 🙂
