Both of my great-grandparents were married once before marrying each other (in New Hampshire). They were married in 1920 and 1921 and those records were incredibly easy to find. I also found my great-grandmother’s divorce record from 1937. I cannot find a divorce record for my great-grandfather. My question is does anyone know if there’s a gap in NH marriage/divorce records or anywhere specifically beyond ancestry I should be looking. My great-grandfather was listed as living with his 1st wife on the 1940 census (March), but my grandmother was born in July 1941. I’m beginning to wonder if they were ever actually married or if this was an affair that just led to them living together. I don’t know the year of the supposed marriage so I can’t easily search the archives.

My dad was adopted and we have recently found out about his paternal birth family. The catch is we only know from a 1st cousin match on ancestry. There were 6 possible fathers (really 5, eliminating the father of the one that is clearly a cousin) and the daughter of one of them shares the following with my dad: 1,265 cM across 29 segments (18% shared DNA). She shows up as “close family” with nearly equal likelihood of being a half sister or 1st cousin. Her father was the same age as my biological grandmother and there are some other logistics that lead me to believe he is also my dad’s biological father, but any insight on deciphering this match is appreciated.
