For context, I’m a 21f possibly starting Solent this September. Their uni residences all look dated (which is common in most uni residences) i thought i’d give it a go either way, cos it is the cheapest option (6k a year) - but when i read the reviews it was terrible.

Problems that were said:

  1. It’s not worth the money for what is there.
  2. Problems with the heater, air con and shower.
  3. Mold everywhere and even growing onto people’s belongings (like into someone’s toothbrush case)!!
  4. Accommodation is rough feels like you’re in a prison.
  5. Silverfish is everywhere too.
  6. Security is not 100% secure, anything can happen not a lot is monitored (for example ppls parcels being stolen).

These were only half the problems I saw 😣 has anyone applied to any of these accommodation’s or already has? If so, can you give insight on how your own experience was?

Seriously considering whether I should go for private accommodation although it would be 8k a year as opposed to 6k a year with uni residences. Do I suffer and pay the cheapest option to save money or pay an expensive price for a peace of mind?

I have no idea what to do any advice would be helpful!

Woke up this morning to this, still waiting for 1 more uni to make their decision. Does anyone know how long this will last for?

And does it affect whether uni’s can still send off their decisions with the applications shut down right now?

Update:

I can access my application now 🙂‍↕️
