I gotta admit something - My love for the fictional characters I like is attraction-based, with no romantic element. There's characters I like spending time with and talking to, but the idea of romance? I wasn't kidding about adoring Renamon and the other characters I like, but I'm aromantic even in the fictosphere. And I'm starting to feel uncomfortable pretending because you're all such nice people.

Renamon and I are husband and wife. (And for Rena's sake Rika is our adopted daughter.) But we also live together with the rest of my character crushes as a massive, silly family. All together, all loving. Including in some cases >!some NSFW loving that isn't allowed on this reddit. Family with benefits. XD!<

Familyship? Is that a thing?

Well... I'm weird, I know that, XD.

Now if you'll excuse me, Exdeath said that the basement of our house is now the Void and I am mildly concerned... The chaos gremlins in our household are claiming innocence but they tend to get to Exdeath a lot...

As my polycule is massive, I will just focus on a character at a time.

(It should go without saying I believe in sharing. Multiverse principal means there's someone for everyone.)

Anyway. This time, I feel like talking about Fred 'the Blob' Dukes.

Formerly an X-Man villain that at most I used for kinkfic stuff, he underwent a bit of a change when the Age of X-Man came around.

The Age of X-Man arc was Nate 'X-Man' Grey's attempt to save the world by creating a perfect world... without intimate relationships. Friendship was fine, but beyond that? Nope. (Ironically, he made Apocalypse a love guru so that his world would have an enemy to focus on.)

Fred worked in an agency meant to monitor potential relationships forming. Literally a love police. They policed intimacy, and pregnancy was illegal, babies being born in labs in X-Man's universe. Nate truly thought this was the best way to bring peace to the world.

The irony?

Fred fell in love with Betsy Braddock.

And it was actually adorable

It didn't work out after X-Man's alternate reality collapsed, but after this was the age of Krakoa, and Fred becoming something else.

Friendly drinks at Freddy's bar. He was charming. He was welcoming. He'd become more than just the usual depiction of an ugly mean fat guy.

And then Marvel had the Sentinels blow up Krakoa because they're anti-happiness. (I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM FOR ONE MORE DAY).

But I remember big Freddy. I remember Green Lagoon Freddy. He will always be my big cuddly bae, no matter what Marvel does to him.

Freddy rose above being a Brotherhood mook. And became adorable.

That's one of the many reasons I love this big guy.

Honestly, my love for Renamon, my Renayim, is an intimate one. For Eggman? My love is respect. Admiration of his brilliance, his fortitude in the face of obnoxious forever teenagers that break his stuff all the time.

I've been more open about being aro/ace since Gwenpool came out. Fictosexuality... I can't remember when I found the term, but I realized that it defined me quite well when I first heard it.
