Apex Coliseum Boss #4: Emma Frost, Megathread

The fourth and final boss of this Apex Coliseum "season" is here! You have 2 weeks left to finish her points, as well as the other 3 bosses if you haven't yet done so. Remember, there's a Green Goblin piece in there you might want.

Boss: Emma Frost - Review her kit [HERE]

Nodes:

  • Coliseum Prompt: Heavy or Striker
  • Psyched: When the Attacker finishes a Special Attack, they become Immune to Delirium and Reversed Controls for 8 seconds
  • Dex-Fury: Whenever the Attacker activates Dexterity for any hit from the Defender's Special Attacks, the Attacker gains a stacking 40% Fury Buff. Max 10 for 5 seconds, pausing during the Defender's Specials
  • Beast of Burder: For each Debuff on the Defender, they reduce the duration of incoming Debuffs by 20%
  • Shed Skin: When the Attacker gains a Bar of Power, a 15 second timer starts. If the timer expires, the Defender gains a Debuff Immunity Passive for 5 seconds. Knocking down the Defender removes the timer.
  • Cold Feet: The Attacker is Passively Rooted during the Defender's Heavy Attacks

You can only use Champions tagged as #Apex Challenger Emma Frost

Please use this thread to discuss your counters

(Don't see this content available in game? It is available only to Paragon and above Summoners)

PSA: You know that visual bug that happens when you claim a selector milestone with multiple quantities that makes it look like other rewards are also at a higher quantity on the selector screen? It's likely you're gonna run into this with stuff like the R4 gems. You aren't getting 4x R4 Gems, don't get too excited, it is still just the one that is listed.

Who are your all time favorite MCOC champs?

I don’t just mean champs you’re currently enjoying but since you started playing MCOC till now.

Maybe you had a blast playing a champ way back in 2020 or 2017 or 2024. Once they were at one point a champ you considered your favorite over time even if they are old and outdated.

1: King Groot - My all time favorite MCOC champ. The OG one not just the Deathless. The regen, health pool and damage made him just a questing king. Back before BGs he was so damn good for any and everything. Deathless is a good substitute for now but I would rather having OGKG as a 7 star.

2: OG Captain America - Yes he’s old and no longer useful in 99.9% of cases but back in like 2017 and before he was quite good. The ability to get up to 100% perfect block put in work back in the day.

3: MorningStar - She was a staple on my AQ team back in the day. Literally the only champ in MCOC back then to take down mini bosses and bosses back when we had link nodes in AQ. Put up a Reddit post of there being I think 5 linked nodes I including super regen and she handled it well. I’d ask for a buff but they did a good job with Purgatory and it’s a good replacement for now.

4: Patriot - I remember opening a random valiant crystal in 2024 and he popped out. Didn’t think much of it. I gave him a shot because of my like for OG Cap. Pre buff Patriot was pretty decent overall. Got him to R4 pre buff and it was good. After his buff and now ascension, he’s truly amazing. I’ve come to realize how you play him can give some very different results but played right and he’s a speed demon for kill times. Super safe on top and damn near always comes out at 100% health.

5: Spiderman Classic - I stopped playing MCOC for two years and in that time he was buffed so when I came back I didn’t really know anything about him. Gave him a chance at R2 and was like “wait a R2 unawakened SM can do some 200k sp2s? Damn that’s not bad”. Then I realized he could chain two sp2s together and went “oh I bet he could do like 400-500k damage as a stun lock. Then I decided to rank him up to R4 and sig 200 THEN I was shown that he can chain 3 sp2s as a stun lock and tested him to do between 1.4-1.7m damage as a stun lock instead. I was gonna R5 Cassie Lang but then the same week they dropped that he’s gonna be ascended and we get it for free and the choice was easy. After the next colosseum boss he’s going to R5 and I hope I can buy the keys to make him A2 on top.

Is anyone else tired of red numbers nowadays?

So many champs now have red numbers in their kit that it can feel somewhat boring to see their appeal. Sure there’s champs without any or much but they’re far and few between. Even outside the meta, tons of champs rely on or use red numbers. Not hating on red number champs since a lotta them are my favs, but it’d be nice if we got more champs that didn’t have red numbers.

I have to fulfill a promise please help me

More than 8 years ago I promised my little brother that one day I'll let him open a 5 star crystal from the game, but unfortunately I dropped the game just some weeks later, but know I have to fulfil my promise to him.

Is there an easy way to obtain a 5 star crystal?

Or are you able to suggest me the shortest way to obtain it?

Thanks to all of you who will help me.

What impact does pre-release DCKO have on MCOC and Kabam in the short term?

Now that content creators are previewing DCKO, my immediate feeling is to pull back any spending on MCOC and I can’t be the only one. I’m not a whale but I do spend more than I probably intend. The idea of starting fresh without the bloat of a decade-plus old game is very appealing. Additionally, the grass is greener with DCKO as I don’t actually have my hands on it.

The first test will be the upcoming Revenge event, which will probably be a good indicator of what the Black Friday sale and banquet event spending will be like.

I honestly don’t know what Kabam should do strategically. They need to stop the bleeding of the repeated own-goals they’ve had recently. More broadly, the game needs some fundamental rework if it wants to compete for another 10 years. If they lay out a big investment, it will take time to actually improve the game experience. Beyond that, it might only maintain a revenue stream longer rather than grow it. I’m not sure if I’m a Kabam executive if I want to invest in “saving” this game or if I should be building something new.

All of the above paragraph only reinforces my inclination to stop MCOC spending at least until the smoke clears a bit. If a good portion of the MCOC player base does the same over the next year, Kabam’s revenue is going to get crushed and it may further exacerbate the situation.

I don’t really have any solutions… for either Kabam or the player base, but thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else is thinking.

Metamorphosis and Revenge of Legends make me worried for Banquet

We are now in our second big event featuring a box containing 1 champion of each class to become ascendable. Metamorphosis was similar to Heart of Fire and Omega Days being powerful champs for May, and Revenge of Legends being like Rebirth and Reunion featuring less powerful but still solid champs in August.

The big difference of course, is that instead of having full new champs to be released as 7-stars, it allows you to ascend a new group of select champions. However, it is very clear that the champions being selected for these ascension events are ones meant to play it very safe and not be anything broken or overpowered. I understand why, but at the same time it's made the community very underwhelmed.

This makes me already assume that Banquet this year will be the exact same thing, and that's where I'm starting to become very concerned. The past few banquets have been great, but if it becomes just another ascension event than it loses a lot of that value.

Best Counters for this fight?

Me and my alliance mate always die to this fight, any suggestions on who to use? Onslaught and serpent both haven’t worked well in my experience but idk if that’s a skill issue

The Reward difference is CRAZY

I really believe that the award rework for act 7 is needed as act 6 got a reward buff but the rewards of 6 is way better than 7 so when is the buff coming??

Animation wise, what's the best looking champion?

Regardless of how good they're for various contents, what's the champion with the most visually creative, good looking combos, animation wise?

My favorite is Spot.
