Making a trip down to Pinehurst from Philly. First off, you guys have a sub dedicated to golf posts around an airport? I assume you really only get Pinehurst questions in here so I like that it has a different name to filter all the other stupid posts.
Second off, what courses at Pinehurst should I play? I’m a member at Pine Valley so I don’t really have any patience for playing courses in rough shape. I’ve already heard Sub-Pines is in rough shape so don’t tell me to play there. I haven’t done much research on my upcoming trip because research is overrated and I’d rather hear from local who obviously play there all the time. There’s like one place worth playing golf in NC so obviously it’s not that hard to get a handle on things.
Lastly, is there a shuttle that will take me from the airport to the resort? How often does it run? I’ve heard conflicting info that I could just walk but me and the 15 guys I’m coming with will be carrying luggage plus our 24-inch speaker for the golf cart and will probably pretty sauced by the time we get off that plane if you know what I’m talking about.
Thanks for your help.
Edit: this is a shit post. Y’all North Carolinians are some of the kindest people for not tearing me apart in the comments.
I’m 30 and I still haven’t figured out what to do with my career. I went to college and got a degree that isn’t doing anything for me. I tried my hand in sales and had some good years but the market for my product is going to shit. I grew up in a family of construction workers and as the youngest, my parents decided they were going to do right and push me to go the white collar route.
I tried that for 8 years and I’m just really bored sitting in an office staring at a computer. I’ve worked some side jobs with my brothers on the weekends. All through highschool I did grunt work on farms. So I know how it is to be outside all day in the heat getting bitched at by an old timer with a cigarette in his mouth lol.
I’ve always been drawn to carpentry because I’m good at math and I’m good at building stuff. I built a boat, a pole barn, pretty much anything aside from framing a house. I just want to show up, shut up, learn and leave when the day is over. I’m also just sick of corporate bullshit and pep talks.
Everyone is telling me to find another desk job but I think I want to do this. Tell me not to do this and why.
For context I grew up in a very blue collar area. Everyone either worked construction, farmed, or worked in a factory. Five kids from my graduating class of 80 went to college. I work in a very basic office setting and probably make an equal or less amount of money than some of the people I grew up with, but they all act like they hate the world. None are very friendly or can make a basic conversation with anyone outside of their normal circle.
My brother has absolutely nothing to say to my wife, who I met in college and goes out of his way to mention how he didn’t go to college when she comes around. I worked blue collar jobs through highschool and college and really didn’t mind the work. But why do the people suck so much?
Meanwhile at the office, people are usually friendly and easy to talk to around the coffee pot.
