18 and Feeling Lost....What Should I Focus On?

Hi everyone. I’m 18 years old and have recently become passionate about the business world, entrepreneurship, and generating income. However, I feel quite discouraged right now because I don’t know what to focus on or which business model would suit me best.

I realize that any venture requires effort, patience, and a lot of hard work. My problem is that I keep jumping from one idea to another. I’ve tried affiliate marketing, YouTube channels, cryptocurrency, paid surveys, and many other things, without ever really succeeding.

Because of these experiences, I’ve become afraid to try new things. Whenever I consider a new project, I immediately think about failure, which makes me want to give up before I’ve even given it a real chance.

I simply feel lost. Sometimes I try to find advice or direction, but it’s difficult because I lack experience and don’t know who to listen to. I know no business model guarantees success, but I’m looking for a path where I can fully commit, stay consistent, and have a reasonable chance of succeeding.

I currently have no budget to invest, so I have to start from scratch. Unfortunately, my job applications haven’t yielded any results, as the job market is saturated. But that won’t stop me from moving forward.

Succeeding is one of my biggest dreams, and I want to be proud of myself. I often feel like a failure when an attempt doesn't work out, but I’ve been trying to improve lately. I’ve given up some bad habits like spending all my time scrolling through social media and I’m trying to dedicate my time and energy to things that could genuinely improve my future.

I would really appreciate some sincere advice, especially from people who have been in a similar situation. I’m not looking for someone selling a course, mentorship, or paid guide, but I simply want genuine advice on what I should focus on, how to choose a direction, and how to stop constantly jumping from one idea to another. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read my post!

18 years old, only have about $50 and feel completely lost financially. What would you do in my position?

I'm an 18-year-old college student who's been really fascinated with business models and ways to make money for a few years now. One of the huge reasons I got into this kind of thing was my own financial struggles and my deep desire to make my parents proud.

I've tried a lot of things: affiliate marketing, youtube channels, crypto, surveys, and so much more. I haven't really had any success with any of them. Generally, I would give anything that I tried about 6 months, so it wasn't like I would try something for a few days and give up. However, once I invest that much effort into something with no results I tend to get so incredibly frustrated and convinced that it won't do anything for me even if I put even more effort in.

I've spent this summer searching again for new ways to make money because I really do not want to be average, I want to thrive, I want to be successful, I want to do something that's different and will eventually prove my parents wrong when I'm able to do something that I'm proud of.

Even trying to find a regular job was difficult. I applied to over 10 jobs a day all summer and barely found work.

At this point, I just feel so lost, money is a concept that I think about constantly from the moment that I wake up until the moment I go to bed and it has left me so incredibly anxious about my future. Both my parents have had a lot of financial trouble growing up, so one of my biggest fears is ending up living the same life they do.

I get that money doesn't guarantee happiness, but I do believe that it offers opportunities, security, and the chance to really provide for the people that I care about. I just have no idea where I should be focusing my attention right now.

I've invested approximately $500 into a few different business models so far and honestly, that money is gone. I've considered starting to work on building an app idea in my free time, but that then makes me really anxious that if it doesn't work, if I lose even more money because of it, then that means that another six months of my life would have gone to nothing and that idea makes me unable to commit to starting it.

I currently only have around $50 on me so that means I have to figure out something that's realistic.

I'm perfectly willing to put my head down and dedicate years to something, I'm not looking for some get-rich-quick idea. I am just absolutely terrified of putting in another 6 months or year of my life into something that does not go anywhere.

I feel like a total loser when I see people my age doing so much better and achieving a lot more than I am, and at times it can make me feel like all hope is lost. I want to be a successful person who is financially independent, and I want to feel like I'm making progress.

I am also dealing with some fairly serious anxiety and panic attacks which are heavily triggered by money and worrying about my future.

I know this is a very long message, but I really appreciate any perspective or advice you have regarding what you think someone in my situation needs to be focusing on and how to avoid jumping from one thing to another.

Best vertical ergonomic mouse for gaming under $22 CAD?

Looking for a vertical ergonomic mouse that’s also decent for gaming. My budget is $22 CAD max and I’m in Canada.

I mainly want:

  • Good build quality/reliability
  • Comfortable vertical grip
  • Decent sensor/tracking for gaming
  • Adjustable DPI
  • Low input latency
  • Wired or 2.4 GHz wireless is fine

I’m not expecting a pro esports mouse at this price, but I want the best overall option for the money and something that won’t feel terrible in games.

So far I’ve looked at the Redragon BM-4033 for around $22 CAD. I also saw the DELUX M618 Plus, which seems more gaming-oriented, but it’s usually above my budget unless it goes on sale.

Are either of these good, or is there a better vertical mouse around $15–22 CAD that I should look at?

Would especially appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used one for gaming.

What lock/setup would you recommend for commuting in a high-theft city?

I'm buying a used bike for around CA$200 and want to make sure I secure it properly. I had a CA$600 bike stolen before, so I'm trying to avoid making the same mistake.

I live in Ottawa, Canada, and I'll be using the bike for commuting and locking it up around the city during the day.

I have about CA$30–40 to spend on a lock right now. What type of lock/setup would you recommend at that budget? Is a U-lock the way to go, or would you combine it with another type of lock?

I'm mainly looking for practical advice on how to secure the bike properly in a high-theft urban area.

Thanks!

I had an issue since days ago and haven't got any response regarding to it. I'm not sure whether their support is even available. I had this issue and still unsolved.

I find this issue pretty annoying and I accumulated a lot money, but still waiting and can't cashout. Any fix please?
