Rigged a leather tote for the front rack

I've been loving the front rack and the MIK system. After the front cargo pod turned out to be a bit small for some rides, I pulled out an old leather tote I was using for tools and slapped an adapter plate on it.

Turns out to be great for commuting. When I park I swap the lock for my helmet, pop the tote off, and drop it in my office.

No good for rain, obviously, but that's the beauty of a quick release. I'm going to have to get a MIK-compatible for my manual bike now.

Phantom acceleration

I'm noticing a brief jolt of acceleration when coasting. It happens once in a while when I stop pedaling, a second or so after the pedals stop moving. It only lasts for a split second. It's proportional to the assist setting; on 1 it's barely noticeable, and a definite (but brief) kick at 5. Not strong enough or long enough to destabilize me while riding, but obviously I'm concerned.

The bike is brand new. Is this a known issue? Just something that happens with this kind of sensor or motor? Or should I stop riding until I can get it checked out?

Missing black pointer in Alvamar

Marnie, a 6-yr old black pointer, slipped out the front door today when it didn't close all the way. Unfortunately the air tag on her collar seems to be offline, probably a low battery.

She ran from around Crossgate and Clinton but she's speedy and curious and could be a lot of places by now.

Marnie is friendly but a bit skittish. Please comment if you see her! (Sub won't let me post our phone number but I'll DM it to you, and it's on her collar.)

Jones has lost his appeal in the District Court

The court finds he lacks standing to appeal, clearing the way for The Onion to finalize its deal.

Jones can appeal this to the Fifth Circuit and probably will, but this is a major step forwards.

Edit: Apparently he's filing as a Dem instead of as an independent. I no longer think this is what the GOP wanted!

I don't know why you announce a press conference to announce your decision on whether or not to run if you're not going to run.

And honestly, I think this is what Roger Marshall and the GOP were hoping for. It may energize the campaigns against him for a minute, but Kansas law is designed in such a way that the Dems basically cannot not run a candidate. Which means the anti-Marshall vote inevitably gets split if Hamilton runs as an independent.

Will he take GOP votes too? More than Dem votes? I don't know, and am skeptical of anyone who says they do. But I think the GOP sees this as good news for their guy.
