Points needed for platinum - anything we can do?

I'm 16 status points away from platinum! We just checked out of a stay at Sofitel Gatwick, and noticed that they didn't add any status points for our in-room dining spend, which was about £100. They requested we pay for our room up front on check in, and we paid for the in-room dining via card payment on delivery, which was the only option they gave us (and looking this up, is why they didnt give us the status points annoyingly).

Has anyone had any luck emailing the hotel and asking for the status points in this situation? Otherwise, any ideas for how we could get 16 status points without having to book another night? (Hoping to use status for the next booking we need to make).

Thanks!

Accor Gold - Paris work trip, June 16-18 - help picking best value from shortlist (gym a bonus!)

Hi all, Accor Gold member here, nearly at Platinum. Heading to Paris for a work conference in the Champs-Élysées area and need to book 2 rooms for myself and a colleague.

Dates are 16-18 June and it seems to be crazy busy with prices are 50% higher than similar dates, so struggling to work out the best value option.

Here's my shortlist (prices per room per night after Accor Gold discount):

  1. Ibis Styles Paris Gare Saint Lazare - £254/room/night | 20 mins by public transport to venue | No gym

  2. Novotel Paris 17 - £250/room/night | 25 mins by public transport | Has gym

  3. Novotel Paris Centre Tour Eiffel - £274/room/night | 18 mins by public transport | Has gym

  4. Mercure Paris Arc de Triomphe Étoile - £308/room/night | 14 min walk to venue | No gym

A gym is a bonus but not a dealbreaker. Main priorities are value for money and a comfortable stay for a work trip. I've been given free rein for booking as long as it's under £300 a night (option 4 is pushing it).

A few questions for those who know Paris well:

Are there any of these which standout / you recommend?

Any other Accor properties I might have missed to consider? (FWIW, Pullman = £350 per night, Hotel Maison Hamelin £355 etc)

Thanks in advance!

Buying advice - budget projector UK to take on holiday and watch outdoor movies and football game

Hi there, hoping for some buying advice! UK based.

I'm renting a villa with friends this summer in Spain. There isn't a tv at the villa, but there is an England football game that's on around 10pm local time that the guys want to watch, so we had the idea of buying a projector to show the match (and we could use it for movies another night).

We would probably use it outside, in a covered seating area (3 walls enclosed, with a white wall at one end which we'd probably project onto, I'd estimate maybe 6m x 4m in size with the 4m wall the one we'd use to project onto - we wouldnt need to fill the whole wall).

Looking to spend around £250 and happy to buy second hand - we'd potentially sell on when we get back from the holiday. It would need to be portable, we could take it in hand luggage or hold luggage.

Any advice on how we'd get sound etc would also be a plus!

Thanks in advance 🙏
