MOZ New York Mule Fuel

Strain: Mule Fule
Genetics: GMO X The Lurch
Breeder: ThugPug Genetics
Price: 45
Looks: 78/100
Smell: 90/100
Texture: 78/100
Flavor: 55/100

Effects: 75/100

One of my favorite strains is GMO. The best weed to me smells the “worst”. Foul, nasty, nostril stinging, and wretched smells that give you a visceral reaction are what I look for. The more akin to rotten wet garbage truck the smells is, the more likely I am to buy it. Anything GMO touches gives this quality thanks to its Chem genetics. I was shown this in person to compare to other options offered and once I felt my nose burn, this became my bias choice.

Given the genetics, don’t be surprised to see weird shaped nugs and odd densities. However I was a little disappointed seeing the condition of these nugs. Compressed but not squished before they were put into the jar. The trim is very close and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a machine trim. Very amber rusty but still has all its green, it’s not the freshest but not the oldest.

The smell hurts my nose in the best way. That kind of nose is one of my favorite traits in the smell. Eating rotten garbage and onions next to someone who doesn’t bathe. Some of the best GMOs I’ve smelled.

This has a lot of moisture that doesn’t make for an ideal grind. In the hands and breaking it down you feel that it’s not as dry as most other weed. The stems don’t snap which is also a not so good sign. Not sticky at all but with pressure it does adhere slightly to the tips of your fingers.

After sparking it up, the taste was a let down. No translation to taste at all . Some may call this cardboard or air terps. There is a little bit of pine but nothing else. With the smell being so prominent, I can’t imagine why the taste on the burn was nonexistent.

The effects were decent but nothing strong. You feel a slight head change with a calming body buzz which makes you feel at ease. I only felt the effects for an hour or so and I felt tired after but not a crash. Full disclaimer I smoke hash often so my tolerance is higher than the average consumer.

Overall I would say this is definitely a let down for me. I really was excited to try some good GMO and I got nothing. The strain has such good potential and I’ve seen better examples than this. If I see this on a menu again I would try it but not from this menu. MOZ New York carries a curated list of products that include a lot more exotic strains and exclusive brands. I would be willing to try those offerings but I can’t say I recommend this batch of Mule Fuel to my circle. I haven’t smoked exotic in a while and hopefully it isn’t gelato.

Tri Borough Tropics Moroccan Peaches

Strain: Moroccan Peaches
Genetics: (Lemon Tree x Barbara Bud) x Skorange
Breeder: Purple City Genetics
Price: 50
Looks: 88/100
Smell: 85/100
Texture: 90/100
Flavor: 75/100
Effects: 80/100
Would I Buy It Again: Yes

I’ve tried Moroccan Peaches once before and I really enjoyed it. That flower was grown outdoors and in Cali. It wasn’t the best in terms of looks or texture but the flavor was amazing. Many growers have chosen this strain for its hash quality and I understood why, given its explosive peach candy sweet flavor that is unique against the popular strawnana, honey bananas, and guava tangie hash. After that one instance I haven’t seen it again in flower form until now.

This is not my first time grabbing Tri Borough Tropics (TBT) either. They offer a wide variety of strains and they’re grown with love, organics, regenerative soil, and years of experience here in NY.

The buds are trimmed very well. Beautiful structure with nothing smashed together or broken. Dark and vibrant green coated in trichomes ranging from amber to clear making it appear like yellow Cheeto dust. Full display of intact pistols that are different shades of maturation but are mostly orange which is a good sign. The bag is very well designed and keeps the bed very fresh and terpy. Not many people in NY use real Grove Bags and I can appreciate the added effort.

Fair warning, the nose smells nothing like fruit or sweets. It’s heavy thick skunky chem kush-esque scent that lingers for a long time. Imagine yourself walking into a butcher and seeing both fresh and frozen meat being cut on a long table saw. The cold smell of blood, guts, and bone marrow fill the air as they cut away at the frozen slabs. That smell is what I call a meaty smell. This smells like someone’s BO after cutting frozen lamb in a dirty bathroom . I was expecting something different but giving the skunk heavy genetics behind this strain, it is more than likely this pheno is more on the skunk side rather than the orange or lemon. Smelling it reminds me of a Maui Skunk Dog X Deathstar I had. The smell lingers for a long time and after closing the bag, everything near it smells loud and clear you got some dank on you.

I love breaking down weed like this. Dense, sticking together, stems are crisp and makes me wanna wash my hands. Very soft but firm petals that pull apart with visible strings of the trichomes breaking. Ground up really smooth and holds its shape in the paper with light pressure. I wish all weed was cured this nice.

On combustion, it has an interesting translation from smell to tase. At first you get that stanky BO kush and meat and then it transitions into a creamy dough citrus with meat on the backend. This reminds me of a Georgia Pie I tried with the dough and meat taste with added citrus. The oils coats the lips and parts of your palette but I wouldn’t say this is a full “mouth staining” smoke. To reiterate, at this point based off the smell I presumed this wasn’t gonna be the full peach experience I had before and the flavor confirmed this.

That mix of terpenes lead me to a very enjoyable experience. Zoned out and zoned in at what’s happening. Good for gazing, daydreaming and munchies. I would recommend doing something relaxing than active but that’s up to the user. No crash landing and lasted 2 hours at 1g. I would love to smoke a doink of this in Amish.

I wanted peaches and I got skunk. If this wasn’t weed I would be upset to open a bag of skunk meat but this is great. I would love to smoke this again because it definitely fits my vibe smoke wise. After doing some research, others have also had this moment with Moroccan Peaches. It varies very much on what pheno you get and that’s to be expected with all strains. I’m still looking for that peach again and when I do I’ll let you know. I enjoy trying what TBT offers and will try more in the future. Instead of that quarter of gelato from God knows where, buy some good weed grown locally.

Blackrabbit Farms Haley’s Comet Review

Strain: Haley’s Comet

Genetics: Northern Lights x Haze ?

Price: $60

Looks: 82/100

Smell: 88/100

Texture: 90/100

Flavor: 86/100

Effects: 90/100

Sound: It’s loud, the floor you’re on will hear it

Would I Buy It Again: Yes

Smoking Medium: Raw Ethereal Paper and a Dutch Masters Paloma

I will preface this by letting you know, this is my third legal weed flower purchase. My purchases have been Runtz first official drop in New York “Bubblegum Runtz”, Skyrose Farms “Kombucha Cream”, and now the “Haley’s Comet”. I chose to buy this based off of the reviews, history, and appeal to my ideal versions of cannabis. As a long time weed smoker, I have a hard time trusting the legal NY market. Many shortfalls, bureaucratic red tape, capitalistic overtakes, and lack of genuine quality that reflects what NY’ers have come to expect in terms of high quality cannabis have made me weary of any legal products. However this was an exception I was willing to make, and I’m glad I did.

The look is spot on for Haze. I’m only knocking it down because the jar is plastic with and they were not full nugs. Take that with a grain of salt because anyone who smokes Haze in NY knows you’re only getting smalls unless you get lucky.

The smell is a nauseating mixture of ammonia, wet wood shavings, menthol, and some citrus on the backend. Think mothballs that have been soaking in some cleaning agent you left in the yard for a week in the summer. When you open the jar you get hit with it and after letting it sit open outside the smell did dissipate but the woody menthol notes deepens.

In the hands it is not sticky but when breaking down your hand gets covered in sap and makes grabbing your tools harder. After grinding it up your left with perfect lime green fine confetti that rolls up super smooth and hold its shape with slight pressure.

I first tried this in a joint using RAW papers but off first rip, it was clear this belongs in a Dutch. The flavor is overwhelming and coats your palette. You get a direct smell to taste translation. Piney eucalyptus and astringent spice is what dominates. You taste no citrus in a paper but in a Dutch it is a lot more present. A classic haze taste that is stronger in paper yet the strong terps compliment tobacco really well.

The effects had me surprised. I was full on expecting a racing sativa yet instead I was faced with a mix of effects. You get a head change after you take your first pull that makes you go “woah”. Your mind melts away anxiety and stress, focusing you on the present moment. A warm buzz is felt in your body that makes you feel connected. This is a very calming haze that you can use to relax and decompress or as an upper to get you ready and focused. I smoke a lot of hash so my tolerance is high. A single 1g joint or blunt was enough for me to be high for 2.5 hours +.

Personally I really like this strain. There is only a small amount of people who actually have a cut of this, let alone keep it alive for 20 years. I love this kind of haze that you can use all day. Even though the price is very steep and I had to pay tax, I would still buy this again but for an occasion. If the price were to drop, this brand would be in my regular rotation. Access to quality Sour, Haze, Kush, and Chem is hard to find in both legal and BM areas so this a rare gem to find and try for yourself. I will be sticking to BM products but this is a great glimpse at what high quality NY cannabis should be. I would recommend this brand and I hope to try more offerings in the future. Buy Blackrabbit Farms, stop choosing gelato.
