What's the genesis of Metro's IMEI device swap situation?

We all know Metro is the only T-Mobile MVNO that makes switching devices a pain in the dick, but why?

I assume them tying the IMEI is some leftover relic from the CDMA days, but it's 2026.. why can't we just swap SIM cards like the rest of them?

Holy Mary this thing is an absolute game changer for an old man!

I have a fundamental understanding of computer building, but I also haven't built a computer since the 2500K days, and even then I wasn't very good with software.

Remembering my college days, I turned to Facebook marketplace looking for a poor college kid going to school for computer science, and damn did I find one!

They hooked it up with all the software I needed, all I had to do was clean the Optiplex up & gut the storage in exchange for a 128 SSD boot drive and a 4TB HDD.

I just could not be more pleased and I can't believe how easy this is to access!

I've never hosted my own server before hell I've never even built a server before, but the optiplex is amazing if you know software, or you know anybody that knows software, or if you live next to a big University full of young smart people that know software, this whole endeavor cost me like 250 bucks and I am ecstatic coming from the 'Old Ways' of getting my content

I'm just posting this in case somebody in the future is searching for something niche like I was so I can save them some headache.

TLDR: if you have a Unihertz phone and are having connectivity issues with data, try these APN settings...

If you're signing up for the $30 annual plan (unlimited talk/text & 200MB data), just be forewarned that not only is it AT&T exclusive, but it also doesn't work on AT&T exclusive phones, at least via eSim from an unlocked Consumer Cellular device.

I can only vouch for the antiquated Jelly 2, but I have to imagine these APN settings would work for anybody with RP AT&T issues.

If anybody in the future reads this and it helps them, please let me know that my pain was not for nothing so I could save you this two week headache.
