IF and OMAD since 4/28, down 48.5lbs as of today

Not done yet, my milestone is still 56lbs away, but IF and OMAD along with walking 5-8 miles a day and maintaining a calorie deficit I'm comfortable with have been melting the pounds off! Hoping to reach my goal by my birthday in December, but I'm pumped by the progress I've made so far and excited to feel as good as I do already.

Anyone else seeing this after today's update?

Tried repair them deleted the game and downloaded it again.

Worth noting I'm in CachyOS, so possibly just a Linux issue at this point.

Barbacoa burrito with beans and rice

Went out for the rare restaurant lunch at a local Mexican place. Wondering what general estimate on the plate is. Also came covered in green chili.

Started my official strength training journey

I've had a pair of dumbbells on my desk for a few weeks that I pick up and use for a few minutes here and there, but as of yesterday I started tracking my strength training properly.

I picked up a cheap weight bench and a set of adjustable dumbbells, and spent 20 minutes yesterday doing curls and lifts. Today I spent another 20 doing leg lifts.

I can definitely feel it in my arms today! My plan is to alternate between upper and core workouts each day in addition to my cardio, which is usually 4-6 miles of walking and another 5-6 miles on the stationary bike.

It's nice having options when it comes to working out, nothing will hopefully get to stale over time. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with my first two days and I'm looking forward to seeing the results over the coming weeks.

I don't care about food really, which is the irony here I guess

When I was a kid, I grew up in a very low income household, to the point where it wasn't always a given there would be anything substantial in the house to eat. Even if we did have something, it would usually be a hot dog from a pack of 4 or something pretty minimal. I grew up a rail thin kid and looking back at photos, it's pretty wild just how skeletal I looked back then.

My junior year in high school, my dad passed and my mom, who had left him and all but abandoned me, wasn't in a position to take care of me, so I was shipped out to relatives in another state. They weren't like Dursley bad (although, to be fair, my bed was in my cousin's walk in closet, so), but they could be pretty cruel, but at least there was food. There were upper middle class, and so eating enough was never an issue. But in retrospect, I think that was part of the problem.

I wouldn't just eat, I would overeat, and I would eat fast, funneling it down, always finishing meals before anyone else. Back then, I was still pretty skinny, but I also played high school football, so I kept active, so it wasn't a problem, when I graduated I was 6'5" and 185lbs. When I graduated and stopped playing ball, I stopped being as active and the weight really stacked on over time. I would go through the weight gain/loss cycle over and over again, spanning between the low 300s to the mid 400s. Always not really caring what I was eating, just that in my mind I "had enough food".

I'd like to think that realization 4 or 5 years ago has helped me to get where I am today, steadily losing. My current goal isn't the 185lbs again, it's more in the 220-240 range alongside weight training. If I get there, and I feel like I want to lose more, I will make a new goal, but getting down to 240lbs right now will be a massive win for me, I'm hoping to hit it by my birthday in December.

Anyway, just wanted to share my story, in case it strikes a chord with anyone else. Becoming self aware that I was allowing my past to dictate my life was a sobering moment for me, and I'm hoping it's become a turning point for me health wise going forward.

2 months into my "Post nasal polyp" journey, only 4lbs from where I fell off

In 2024 I started dieting and doing a ton of cardio work, losing 125lbs in the process, starting at 426lbs.

On the back half of last year I started having pretty severe nasal breathing issues, I could breath in though my nose, but had to breathe out through my mouth. I would take Sinex before bed which would help but it's also addictive and has a pretty steep fall off if you use it to much, which I definitely was.

It became really hard to work out at all, even walking was miserable, so I went from a 16 minute mile to dying just trying to round the park up the street from my house.

In February, I finally made an appointment and found out I had a horrible case of nasal polyps, requiring surgery to remove them.

I had to take another couple of weeks to recover, but I restarted the work in early April, and I've gone from 346 to 322lbs, I'm back up to 4-5 miles a day walking first thing in the morning, 20-30 minutes on the stationary bike later in the day, and I picked up a magnetic rowing machine that I've been hitting on and off during work.

Still a long way to go, and now I have a pinched meniscus in my left knee. Luckily it doesn't hurt when I walk, only after I've been sitting for awhile, so it's given me a reason to use my standing desk more while I work.

Hoping to hit 250lbs by my birthday in December, give or take, but regardless, I'm glad to be in it again and pushing myself to be better.
