Talk me out of (or into) trading my 2024 Dodge Hornet GT for a 2015 BMW 525i with 50k miles... Am I losing my mind?

Alright, I need a sanity check. I am currently caught in an internal war between modern practical rationalism and pure automotive temptation.

Right now, I’m driving a 2024 Dodge Hornet GT. It’s practically brand new, has modern tech, a factory warranty, and does everything a daily driver is supposed to do. But every time I step out of it, I don't get that "look back at it in the parking lot" feeling. It feels like an appliance.

Enter the distraction: A 2015 BMW 528i with only 50,000 miles on the clock.

I know what you're thinking—"Why trade a brand new car for an 11-year-old German sedan?" But hear me out:

Low Mileage: 50k miles on an F10 platform is getting harder to ind

The biggest hurdle on these—the timing chain guides and tensioner are already the updated ones from bmw as the car was produced 03/15

Build Quality: The ride quality, cabin quietness, and overall driving feel of the 5 Series completely blow the Hornet out of the water.

On paper, trading a 2024 model for a 2015 sounds like financial and logical madness. But emotionally, I miss driving something with real soul and classic German road composure.

Has anyone made a similar jump from a modern crossover back into a mid-2010s executive sedan? Do I stick with the warranty peace-of-mind, or take the plunge on the clean F10?

My 525i doesn't move in reverse

I see it switch on the dash but it feels like its not engaging. On level ground it still reversed a little bit, but yesterday when parking on a hill it wasn't working at all. How cooked am I?

Steering wheel gets stuck going up but not down?

Hi everyone,

Recently my steering wheel just gets jammed while try to move up. It still goes down, in, and out fine. I was thinking maybe a tooth broke off one of the plastic gears but im not sure. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Just thought I would post this picture, washing them is a chore here 🙄. (Tijuana Mexico). Electricity was off and on today and the last week water was cut three times.

I've only seen two threads for the 525i, I was thinking about about a muffler delete with tips. Any recommendations?
