A Distributed Artificial Black Hole Acceleration Infrastructure

Instead of carrying large amounts of propellant aboard a spacecraft, what if we placed numerous artificial black-hole (BH) generation devices throughout space?

The idea would be to create small, short-lived black holes at specific locations and use their gravitational fields to give a spacecraft a series of small accelerations.

Rather than building one enormous, fixed acceleration ring, we could distribute many “gravitational nodes” throughout space and select different nodes depending on the spacecraft’s destination and desired trajectory. In principle, this could allow acceleration in any direction in three-dimensional space.

The purpose would not be to use black holes as the spacecraft’s engines, but to move the energy required for propulsion off the spacecraft and into the infrastructure.

If the spacecraft no longer had to carry most of its propulsion energy, it could be made smaller and lighter, leaving more mass available for payload.

Once a star system had its own power-generation facilities and BH-generation nodes, those facilities could eventually become part of an interstellar transportation network.

Unlike a Dyson swarm, the entire star would not necessarily have to be covered. The infrastructure could be built incrementally, starting wherever it was needed.

Of course, there are enormous problems to solve—most obviously, how to create and control artificial black holes, and how to decelerate a spacecraft after reaching relativistic speeds.

This is not a proposal for technology that is currently feasible. It is simply a thought experiment about whether such a system could be consistent with known physics.

Let's actually work out a real mechanism for how zombies happen (not "curse" or "lightning", something biologically plausible)

I've been down a rabbit hole lately and wanted to see what this community thinks: what if we tried to build a genuinely plausible mechanism for zombification — not "a wizard did it" or "radiation," but something that could survive a biology nerd poking holes in it?

A few constraints I think a good theory needs to satisfy:

  • Why does the body keep moving after major organ failure (including brain death in the classic sense)?
  • What's actually driving the aggression/hunting behavior — is it even "hunger" in any real sense, or something else entirely?
  • Why don't the tissues just rot into uselessness within days?
  • Is there a plausible transmission vector that isn't just "bite = infection" hand-waving?

I've got a few pet theories bouncing around (prion-adjacent misfolding cascades that hijack peripheral nervous tissue instead of just wrecking the brain, that kind of direction), but I'd rather hear how this community would approach it before I lay mine out and anchor the discussion.

Real virology/neuro/microbiology nerds welcome — tear apart anything that doesn't hold up. Half the fun is finding where the theory breaks.

The Atonement Protocol by Kuroudo Souchi - Zombies / Military Horror / Ensemble Drama - September 30, 2026

Book Blurb:

In an alternate 2018 where the U.S. never deployed to the Middle East, a new pathogen turns a Pennsylvania town into ground zero for a zombie outbreak — and this time, it's not Delta Force or SEAL Team Six who show up first. It's the National Guard, suddenly the first wall between a bio-lab's mistake and the rest of the country.

THE ATONEMENT PROTOCOL follows an ensemble cast — Guardsmen, a DARPA-linked bioweapons researcher, and a corporate operative piloting the "Taco Suit," an experimental cephalopod-derived powered exosuit — as they try to survive an outbreak whose cause, and cure, are more disturbing than anyone expects. Why do the infected keep moving? This book has an actual answer, grounded in something closer to real biology than magic.

Beyond the horror, this is a story about guilt and the different, often ugly ways people try to atone for what they've done — during the outbreak and before it.

To the National Guard members here — I wrote a zombie novel because I wanted to see the National Guard take the lead

This thread is what inspired me to finally share this.

Thank you very much for all the attention my earlier thread has received.

I can’t say that getting attention wasn’t part of my intention, but the truth is, I wanted to read a zombie story where the National Guard plays an active role, so I decided to write one myself.

It should be available on Amazon Kindle on September 30, and it will be free to read with Kindle Unlimited.

I’m not American, and although I spent quite a lot of time researching this subject before writing it, I may still have gotten some things wrong.

I’d really like to hear your honest opinions, so I’m considering offering EPUB copies to anyone who can read them. In return, I’d appreciate it if you could leave an honest review around the time of the Kindle release.

Of course, there is absolutely no obligation, and I don’t mind if the review is harsh or critical. I genuinely want honest feedback.

If you’re interested, please feel free to send me a PM through this thread. I should be able to provide EPUB copies starting in August.
