House of the Dragon is basically Mob Wives with dragons and I’m tired of pretending it isn’t!!!

I watched Mob Wives when it was actually on, and the more I think about it the more I’m convinced House of the Dragon is basically the same operating system with a much larger budget.

Family grudges that should’ve died 15 years ago? Yep.
Who slept with who? Yep.

Children getting dragged into adult beef? Bro! Fml 🤦

Someone doesn’t publicly back you enough and suddenly it’s betrayal.

Someone says one slightly disrespectful thing at dinner and three generations are now involved.
Everybody knows everybody’s business because apparently rumours travel just as fast through Staten Island as they do through King’s Landing.

And most importantly: half the conflict could probably be resolved by five adults sitting in a room and speaking normally, which obviously means that can never happen.

The difference is:

HOTD: “You questioned the legitimacy of my children and therefore the realm will bleed.”
Mob Wives: “You said WHAT about me to Renee?”
Same energy. Different cliffhanger.

One has dragons.
The other had Drita. 💪

And tbf I’m not sure which one was more dangerous.
The funny thing is Mob Wives, for all the reality-TV madness, had actual history underneath it. These women really knew each other. Families were involved. People went to prison. Betrayals had real consequences. Big Ang actually got sick and died. Renee’s family genuinely fell apart on camera.
So underneath all the screaming there was something painfully real.

Which is also why HOTD works when it works.

Forget the dragons for a second.
It’s mostly people destroying entire families because somebody hurt them, embarrassed them, chose the wrong person, stayed silent at the wrong moment or refused to let go of something that happened years ago.

Basically:
Mob Wives, but somebody gaveDrita and Karen a dragon.
I said what I said. 😂
