The Good Stuff 😁

"*ppssstt* Hey you. Come here. (looks left, looks right) You looking for something fun? Maybe a little something stronger than Nip Nip Bud? Have I got just the thing for you.

It's something new I found in an abandoned system on a dissonant planet, grown by some hippie geks. I guarantee you'll be seeing scrap heap robots appear out of nowhere. First taste is on the house. Just come back with your friends later when your head comes back together." 😉

I Won?

Ever get so engrossed in completing a quest that you accidentally win the game?

I was working on one of the John Wick Simpsons skin quests. The one where you have to damage players with a shotgun. I had picked up some Seven Sliders earlier and thankfully I did . I had seen this guy fighting with someone else when I rolled up. I got a couple shots off on them before they finished off the other guy. I hit them once more and they took off.

At first I ran after him before remembering I had the Seven Sliders. The chase was on. He had Seven Sliders also, so we were all over the place. A couple times I thought I lost him, but then he'd pop out. Finally I caught up with them. We traded shots, out of the corner of my eye I saw the quest complete, and as I hit him with one more shot he went down.

Then I heard Daft Punk's "One More Time" start playing and the "Victory Royale" popped up. I was like, "Wait, he was the last? This was the final fight? I won?". I swear there were 5 more players the last time I looked. I'll take it, but it felt weird.

A Wholesome Round of Battle Royale... Until

Jumped into Fortnite to level up the last three sprites needed to get the final reward for mastering seventy sprites. Typical Monday night for the most part, open everything, carefully watch for other players, and hide while the extraction crate takes its sweet time dropping.

Eventually I get my #70 sprite to max. I get to an extraction site, active it, and hide in a building and pray. Just as it's almost down I see the footprints. Damn, I gonna have to run for it. In a moment of hilarity we both run up drop all of our sprites and then run off it opposite directions.

Still early in the round. I'm going to log off after this and try to get some sleep (insomnia has been hitting me off and on for the last few weeks).

As I start wandering I notice footprints and look in that direction. A person with a "Venom-like" skin running with just their axe out. I'm curious now, so I run up towards them, they run away. Ok, I stop. I think to myself, "well if they kill me, they kill me, I was logging out anyway.". So I started dancing. Then they start dancing. So I get closer and "Emote Together" pops up. Sure. We did the "Bust A Move" dance for a bit. I decide to wander some more.

I find a Bat-Buggy and decide to take it for a spin. It runs out of gas almost immediately. As I am standing there another Bat-Buggy drives up and starts driving circles around me. A Sprite Guardian is driving. So I jump into the passenger seat and we go for a cruise. And a cruise it was. We drove around for a bit, the whole time they are flipping through jam tracks like they are trying to dial in their favorite radio station.

Eventually we come to a stop. At this point there are six people left. They hop out of the buggy and throw a base llama sprite on the ground. Ok, cool. I don't have that one yet. Awesome. I pick it up and we get ambushed. I hide behind a rock and fumble for a portable extractor. I realize I have a water sprite on my back that I picked up earlier. As I start to swap it someone with a Cluster skin takes me out. NOOOOOooo...

Damn you Cluster. Until that point, probably my most wholesome round ever. At least I got to seventy mastered sprites. No more pressure to play like it's an extraction shooter. 🙂😎

Better Gameplay When Not Trying?

Last night I got hit with the insomnia stick, so after three hours of lying in bed, I eventually wandered out to the TV. Originally, I started trying to level up some of my sprites, but after a bitI realized that was taking too long, so I'll just wait until Monday proper.

Then I checked the quests, and I saw I had quite a few to work on. Something I noticed as I worked on these quests, I seem to be playing better. On average, I was finishing in the top 10, and I was winning more shootouts. Maybe there were more bots at this hour, I'm getting better, or because I wasn't focused on trying to win, but I just seemed to do better overall.

With my luck, it's more bots. ;)

Thanks, I Hate It. Showing All Open Apps

So Windows updated overnight and today it does this every time I move the mouse. I get that Windows is trying to be helpful, but I don't want this. I thought it might be Task View, but turning that off did nothing.

I am on Windows 11 Pro, a Ryzen 9 7900X3D , RTX 4090.

OS Build 26200.8973

How do I shut it off?

I've checked out the Stat/Career board in the menus, and I am confused. I know I have won some Victory Royales and have played a ton of games since starting last November, but it seems like nothing is registering. No matter if I switch it from Ranked to Unranked, specify a season or career, the stats say I have never won anything and have barely done anything.

So after getting my fill of Battle Royale last night, I decided to work on some of the other quests available. Something I could wind down my evening before going to bed. The Star Wars Droid Tycoon had a quest, "Use the Rebirth Station to Rebirth." Sounded easy enough, I could probably knock that out fairly quickly...

Two hours later, I had two, almost three "rebirths" done, among other things. I probably would have kept going if I had not realized how late it was getting and needed to get up at "o'dark thirty in the morning" for work.

I may have to check into a "Star Wars Droid Tycoon Anonymous" meeting. 😉

I'm still fairly new to Fortnite. I popped in when LEGO was introduced, but didn't really start playing until I think November of last year. Mostly playing casually in Solo Zero Build Battle Royale. Most of the time I'm chasing after quests which oddly sees me in the top 20 somewhere at the end with maybe 5-6 kils at the max. I'm just there for fun, so whatever.

Had the idea I'd try Ranked. In my first round, I got shot out of the sky shortly after jumping from the bus. "Welcome to Ranked," I guess.
