Dog Friendly Cabins

Looking for recent recommendations for decent dog friendly cabins in Western Australia 🇦🇺
Photo is of our spoilt little fur baby 🥹🐶❤️
Have looked at Airbnb’s but most of them have pretty bad reviews and the hosts are invasive.
Would like a secluded cabin somewhere quiet if possible.

Recommendations For Comfy, Breathable Pants For After Total Knee Replacement 🦵

I’ve just had a total knee replacement and am desperate for some comfy pants that are breathable and aren’t too tight across the knees, bonus points if they’re also comfy to wear during menopausal hot flushes 🥵😂❤️
Would love to hear what your favourite brand of pants is that you wear all the time 👌🤩
I’m in so much pain and I can’t stand tight material sitting and pressing on the stitches it’s just awful 😞

Horizon+

I finally caved and paid for the subscription, and I’ve redeemed real fishing vr, which I’m enjoying.
What are everyone’s favourite things to redeem with the subscription, or just your favourite other random things to do on the Quest in general? Looking for hidden gems and anything that’s worth checking out!

Knee Replacement Video

I’ve had so many fellow TKR patients tell me, “Go watch the knee replacement surgery video!” 🤣 Then just as many have said, “Absolutely DON’T watch it until after you’ve had your second knee done!” So now I can’t decide!
I’m 5 weeks post-op from my right TKR today (pic attached of healing progress so far - still loads of swelling and bruising), and a big part of me really wants to see what they actually do in there. Mostly because I’m sick of people acting like it’s a quick little operation and I should be “back to normal” already. I’d love to be able to say, “Here, watch this… then tell me I’m taking too long to recover.” 😂
For those of you who’ve watched a knee replacement surgery, did you regret it or were you glad you did? Did it make you appreciate the recovery even more? And is there a particular video you’d recommend that’s a really good, realistic look at the procedure? Or should I listen to everyone telling me to wait until after my left knee is done? 🤣

Seated VR Recommendations?

Just bought a Meta Quest 3 to help get me through the boredom of recovering from a total knee replacement. I'm pretty much housebound at the moment, so I'm looking for games that really make me feel like I've escaped into another world.
I can only play seated for now and I do get a bit of motion sickness. I couldn't handle Medieval Dynasty or Green Hell in VR (love them on PC though!).
I've also got my Quest set up for SteamVR, so I'm happy to play either standalone Quest games or PC VR games.
What are your favourite immersive seated games or experiences that really make you forget you're stuck at home? 🥹

Loss of Sensation

Sorry for the gross picture 😬
I’ll be exactly 4 weeks post op RTKR tomorrow.
Was wondering if anyone else has experienced loss of sensation on the skin area near the wound? On the top of my kneecap on the right hand side there’s a quite a large area where it hurts really bad underneath but on top on the skin itself is completely numb. When I rub Vaseline on it I can’t feel it at all 😩 it grosses me out lol.
Also I still cannot lift my leg! When I try it just quivers, shakes and feels dead! I’m really worried.
Trying to do extension is really hurting it bad underneath as well. I feel like it all seizes up after leaving it on a flat surface after ten minutes, like I’m unable to bend it.
I have a pt that comes to my house once a week but that’s it. She comes in, looks at what I can do, gives me homework I can’t do, then leaves. She was just provided by the hospital for after surgery. She suggested I go to a pt clinic, which I will as soon as I am able to. My biggest concern right now is the loss of sensation in the skin and not being able to lift my leg. How long did it take you to lift yours? For three years I have been limping before surgery so the muscles in my leg were pretty much gone before surgery so maybe that’s why I still can’t lift it?

12 Days Post Knee Replacement - Am I Behind or Are My Family’s Expectations Unrealistic?

Hi everyone,
I’m 12 days post-op from a total knee replacement and I’m starting to question myself because of comments from my family.
I’m still in a lot of pain, my leg is very swollen, I’m using a Zimmer frame, and I still can’t properly lift my operated leg on its own.
My physio comes to my house twice a week and saw me on Friday. She said I’m not ready for forearm crutches yet because I’m still quite weak and unsteady on my feet.
The hardest part has been my family’s attitude.
My mum had keyhole surgery four weeks ago to have two stents placed for an abdominal aneurysm. Every time we talk, she compares our recoveries and tells me her pain is worse than mine. When I try to explain how much pain I’m in, it feels like she thinks I’m exaggerating or should be much further along by now. She keeps saying that once my staples come out on Wednesday, I’ll suddenly be much better.
My sister has also been comparing me to someone in her 70s who had two knee replacements in the same year and apparently recovered really quickly and was up walking around in no time. Hearing things like that just makes me feel like everyone thinks I’m weak, lazy, or not trying hard enough.
The truth is I am trying. I’m doing the exercises I’ve been given and pushing through the pain as best I can, but right now I’m exhausted, frustrated, and feeling pretty unsupported.
So I wanted to ask, does this sound normal for 12 days after a knee replacement?
Has anyone else had family members minimise their pain or compare their recovery to other people’s?
How did you deal with it?
I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have been through this. 🥺

In Agony

I’m desperate for advice, I’m 7 days post op today. Photo of wound I took yesterday after the waterproof dressings got saturated after taking a shower. We had to improvise a new dressing because everything was closed and I couldn’t handle a long car ride to the ED.
I’ve had many surgeries over the years (including 18 staples in my tummy) but I have never experienced pain from a surgery like this before. Literally screamed in the car on the way home from hospital. I had surgery on Tuesday then home Wednesday. Our hospitals get you in then get you home asap.
Anyway right now my biggest concern is the fact that I can’t get any sleep at all. I’m a side sleeper normally and this surgery has forced me to sleep on my back. My back is hurting so much, I cannot get comfortable 😭 no matter what I do. Has anyone found a way to combat insomnia from pain and being very uncomfortable trying to sleep on your back? I hope this post makes sense I’m so tired I’m crying and desperate and was hoping to hear from other people who have been through this.
This is enough for me to not go through with getting my left knee done 😭
