Cox internet plan offer post Spectrum buyout
I'm in CA, and I'm reviewing my plan options being a now-past Cox customer. My current internet plan is $174/month for 1Gb down/100Mb up with unlimited data.
Post acquisition, I see an option for a 2 Gig plan that will cost me $49/month less. Sounds good up front, but the devil is in the details.
On Notable Changes to Plan, it mentions "Removes DUB", and there's a percentage sign to the left of that. Any idea what that means?
Then there's this info under Additional Charges & Terms:
Provider Monthly Fees
Optional Panoramic Wifi Service $0.00
Optional Unstoppable Wifi $20.00
One Time Fees
Service Activation $20.00
Professional Installation $50.00
Change of Service $50.00
Hourly Labor Charge $50.00
Reconnect Fee $5.00
Service Deposit $50.00 based on credit
Late Fee $4.75
Early Termination Fee $0.00
Government Taxes Varies by location
I know it states Optional Unstoppable Wifi, but am I going to get forced into some trial wifi BS? Also, I have my own ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 cable modem, which is DOCSIS 3.1. Aside from the fact that I'm (for now) limiting my download to 1Gbps, will Spectrum be forcing me to purchase a different cable modem, or maybe one provided for them? Lastly, if I'm just changing my plan and I'm not changing hardware, I assume I won't be charged for any professional installation?
I knew where things stood when I was a Cox customer, but now I'm very wary of making changes that may incur additional charges.
Any experience from anyone else in CA (Southern California in particular) would be greatly appreciated.
