How to connect with her after 10 years without making it weird?

Before I write anything, I like to disclose that this post is as objective as I can make it to be so please do not make assumptions about me that aren't written here and I am free to answer any questions.

So I (26M) live in a small conservative town, in my whole life I only really liked one gal, it was at least 10 years ago when I was in high school.

This girl was without a doubt the ideal match for me(and if I am to be a bit arrogant I am a real good match for her).

What makes me say so is the fact that we share a lot of interest, we are both leftists/liberals in a conservative town, we both nerds and our convos used to be really interesting.

We lost contact exactly exactly after 3eme, now last I heard she's working as an English teacher while I moved abroad.

I genuinely fell for her so hard back in the day and wanted to tell her how I feel but she was cold toward me so I decided to not declare my feelings out of self respect.

Recently I came across her socials and sent her a Facebook request, and I genuinely would love to connect back with her and see where it leads without making it weird and that's my question. I already sent her a friend request on Facebook and also found her LinkedIn.

So girls, if you were in her place how would you like it to happen?

Lastly, I would like y'all to know that this is pretty much the only good match in my town and I mean it because there's no way that I would end up without Someone with my background other than her because the rest have nothing in common with me.

Every time I loose a friend a part of me dies

This topic doesn't get talked about enough, especially between men.

You get to know a great person and you build great memories together and then comes that day where you know it's your last, it can be last day at Uni, one of you moving away...etc and despite all you tell yourself you know deep down that it will end that day.

This, whenever it happens, leaves a hole in my heart because for me building friendships that have meaning is rare and as I grow older it becomes more and more harder.
