New build question, 4k ok 1440p for 5080, 9800x3d combo ?
Hello everyone, I am currently torn between what sounds cool, what is logical. I hope that I find a definitive answer with this post.
I'm finally about to upgrade my PC that I built back in early 2018 (rocking a 8700k and a 1070Ti). Right now, I think my mind is pretty set on a 5080, as well as a 9800x3d, or perhaps a 9950x3d depending on local pricing.
My question is: Knowing that I most likely will keep this monitor for a long time, even if it means making it my secondary display later on. Should I go all out on the monitor for a 4k 27 inch OLED display (probably the XG27UCDMG, or just might go with a PG27UCDM if I find a deal on one of those). Or, do I just go with a 1440p 27inch OLED monitor, and as I mentioned before just use it as my secondary display later on, whenever I may upgrade my PC ?
I definitely do enjoy more FPS, and am not too much of a story game person, though I am not the hyper competitive CS2 player, who might set all settings on low for max performance either.
Usually, I would go with the 1440p option since that's what the 5080 can handle best (both performance and graphics quality). Though with new technologies such as DLSS, I'm thinking maybe just go 4k, and crank that up ?
I'd like your opinions on the matter, since there isn't a massive difference price-wise between the 4k and 1440p monitors that I'm looking at possibly getting.
The 5090 is also so expensive that it legitimately almost costs as much as the full setup that I'm getting (yes, including the monitor)
Once again, I am coming from 1080p resolution with around 80-90 fps on most games, so either would be a HUGE upgrade for me.
I also wouldn't really use the couple hundred saved from getting the 1440p monitor, rather than the 4k one on the setup, as I've locked down some pretty good specs for my budget already.
Thank you for your time, and opinions. If needed, I can provide more info.
